2nd edition of Mountain Cross Country Competition in Pokhara & Annapurna RegionWednesday, November 22nd, 2023

The 2nd edition of Mountain Cross Country Competition in Pokhara & Annapurna Region is going to be held in Pokhara on 25th November 2023. The event organized by Nepal Tourism Board, The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nepal and Pokhara Metropolitan City is organized by Hotel Association Pokhara & Yunnan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association from China. Regarding the same a press meet was held today at NTB CEO, DCM of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nepal and media.

The event to be participated by both Nepalese and Chinese athletes has four categories: team, individual, students and Love Run. The team category comprises of 60 players, 10 teams each of Nepal and China; 3 from each of the 10 teams will run the 40 km distance of the race. The event to be held this Saturday is a mix of running (22km), cycling (17km) and boating (1km) in Phewa lake in which all participants from the team category have to compete. Starting from Barahighat in Phewa Lake and passing through various places, the participants shall have to reach the finish point Barahighat again by boat.   

Likewise, the individual category, shall be a competition between 140 athletes for a distance of 38 km. A 5 km race is also one of the categories for students and public interested to participate.

A prize money of NPR 3 lakhs 60 thousand; 2 lakh 88 thousand; 2 lakh 16 thousand; 1 lakh 44 thousand  and 9 thousand shall be awarded to the respective first, second, third, fourth and fifth winners from team category. Likewise in the individual competition, the first, second and third winners shall receive NPR 1 lakh 44 thousand; 1 lakh 8 thousand and 54 thousand. In this category a total of 10 winners shall receive the award. The best among the students and public shall also receive cash prize. All contributions from the Love Run will be donated for reliefs to the recent Earthquake victims through the PM’s fund.
