Arabian Travel Market 2023, Dubai – Press ReleaseSaturday, May 6th, 2023
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with the five private stakeholders participated in the 30th edition of Arabian Travel Market from May 1–4, 2023 in Dubai with the theme ‘Working Towards Net Zero’. ATM is one of the largest travel and tourism events in the Middle East that provides a platform for inbound and outbound tourism professionals, gives information on tourism destinations, accommodation options, tourism attractions, and the aviation industry, and eventually helps exhibitors increase their brand awareness, generate new business to get ahead of the competition with sponsorship, branding, and promotional opportunities.
Arabian Travel Market first opened its doors in 1994 at the Dubai World Trade Center with 52 nations, 300 exhibitors, and 7,000 trade visitors. 29 years later, ATM now facilitates $2.5 billion in industry deals and attracts thousands of exhibitors and travel trade visitors from around the world through its live and virtual events. More than 150 countries and 20,000 exhibitors are claimed to have participated in the fair.
The 30 sq. meter, well decorated Nepal stall at the Dubai World Trade Center in Hall 5 attracted thousands of visitors and exhibitors. The query regarding Nepal and the desire to visit Nepal was overwhelming. Mass visitors showed interest in visiting Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Illam and were also interested in activities like trekking, mountaineering, and jungle safari. The queries at Nepal stall were about direct air connectivity, the availability of luxury hotels, halal foods, and soft adventures.
Nepal is connected by air routes from UAE, with four airlines operating in the region. Two Nepali airlines: Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines and two UAE airlines: Fly Dubai and Air Arabia are operating to and from the UAE to Nepal.
Tourists from the Middle East are well aware of Nepal and its destinations. They are no longer looking for ‘just a hotel’; they seek lifetime experiences. Some muslim prospects visitors are also conscious about halal food and prayer rooms. NTB well portrayed the theme ‘Lifetime Experiences’ to brand and promote Nepal through this fair, whereas the tour operators are also required to work towards creating the ‘experiences’ on the products that they offer in order to tap this market even more.
Mr. Jayshakti Sarraf and Mr. Kabindra Bhatta from Nepal Tourism Board took part in the ATM 2023 fair and had discussions with several stakeholders to promote Nepal as a prominent travel destination. NTB also highlighted Nepal’s core competencies in Nature, Culture, Adventure, Spirituality and Hospitality which are very difficult to find anywhere else in the world.
