A Historic Global Recognition for Wellness – Led by NepalThursday, March 12th, 2026

In a proud moment for Nepal, the United Nations General Assembly has officially adopted the resolution declaring International Wellness Day, following Nepal’s proposal. Beginning this year, the day will be observed worldwide on April 15.
International Wellness Day promotes a broader understanding of health — not merely the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, social, cultural, emotional, and environmental wellbeing. The initiative encourages individuals, communities, and nations to prioritize holistic wellness as a foundation for sustainable progress.
At a time when global conversations are often shaped by conflict, politics, and economic challenges, the recognition of human wellbeing on the international agenda represents an inspiring step forward for humanity.
Nepal’s long-standing traditions of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and harmonious living with nature place the country in a unique position to contribute meaningfully transformative to the global wellness movement offering one of the most unique #lifeTimeExperiences in Nepal. This historic resolution is also a reflection of years of advocacy and commitment from organizations and individuals dedicated to promoting holistic wellbeing.
This milestone further strengthens Nepal’s journey toward becoming a global destination for wellness and wellness tourism.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of Nepal, the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, other supporting organizations, and all member states and partners whose support made this important initiative possible.
Together, let us continue advancing wellness for people, communities, and the planet.
