Brands and Beyond: Collaborative Pathways for Brand NepalThursday, September 4th, 2025
A panel session titled “Building a Stronger Partnership” under the “Brands and Beyond” series was organized on September 4, 2025, bringing together leaders from tourism, advertising, and brand management. The session was moderated by advertising expert Ujaya Shakya and featured distinguished panelists: Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Laxman Humagain, Chairman of the Advertisement Board of Nepal, and Varsha Parera, Chief Marketing Officer of Nepal Distilleries Pvt. Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Joshi underlined that the concept of “Brand Nepal” should not be confined to tourism alone. While tourism remains a cornerstone, he explained that the country’s global image is also deeply shaped by sports, music, arts, gastronomy, entrepreneurship, and contemporary lifestyle trends. He highlighted examples of how Nepal’s mountaineering legacy, growing international sports participation, music festivals, and even modern culinary experiences serve as powerful brand carriers.
Mr. Joshi further emphasized that a strong brand narrative requires synergy between public and private sectors, where tourism, creative industries, and consumer brands complement each other to present a holistic and aspirational image of Nepal to the world. He pointed out that when these diverse sectors come together, they collectively enhance the country’s visibility, trust, and emotional connection with both domestic and international audiences.
