Chinese and Nepali Tourism Professionals Forge Partnership at B2B Session in BeijingTuesday, June 4th, 2024

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Embassy of Nepal in Beijing in association with Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) have successfully completed the Destination Promotion with B2B session in the capital city of China on 3rd June, 2024. A group of 60 Hoteliers from Nepal interacted and exchanged business propositions with more than 100 tourism professionals from China in a one-day B2B and destination promotion program.
The program was organized with an aim to develop and network with Chinese counterparts as part of continuous effort to make a prominent presence of Nepalese tourism in the world’s largest tourism outbound market. In the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, which nearly halted the flow of Chinese tourists, their numbers are now enthusiastically increasing. Chinese tourists inflow of 60875 during 2023 is now followed by 38290 within the first four months (Jan-April) of 2024.
In September 2023, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal have jointly declared the Year 2025 as “Nepal Visit Year in China”. Events such as cultural festivals, participation in Travel Expos, campaign based destination promotion, sales missions, seminars, digital marketing campaigns through different social media, travel partnerships etc. can play pivotal role in reinforcing the leadership commitment.
Welcoming all the guests and participants in the program, President of HAN, Mr. Binayak Shah, expressed his commitment to provide the unique experience and comfortable accommodation facility in Nepal. He added Nepal had world class accommodation facility that could cater 3.5 million tourists and eagerly waiting Chinese visitors to serve with exclusive hospitality that created lifetime experiences.
Similarly, Mr. Prabin Bahadur Panday, 1st Vice President of HAN, shared the status of Nepal Hotels and standards and also the immense tourism potential that China holds for beautiful country Nepal.
Mr. Li Changlin, Assistant Secretary General of World Tourism Alliance, China, welcomed all delegates from Nepal to China and expressed the commitment to support in promoting Nepal in China on behalf of WTA.
Mr. Santosh Panta, Director of Nepal Tourism Board highlighted the tourism prospects of Nepal with a detailed presentation. The presentation incorporated tourism products, services, destinations, cultural events collaborated with Embassy of China, access, Chinese tourist focused initiatives and many more.
His Excellency Mr. Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal for China, in his concluding remarks, assured the participants that the Embassy would extend all possible support for Nepal’s tourism promotion in China. He also emphasized that promotional events executed based on source market’s interest towards product preferences, should happen more often. He also emphasized the Embassy’s keen commitment to support such initiatives.
The session spurred innovative ideas aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and promoting cultural exchange between the two nations exploring joint marketing initiatives and cross-promotional campaigns. During the program, 12 recent Chinese Everest Summiteers from Nepal side and others were also awarded and felicitated in the program. The Nepali cultural performance by students, during the program was one of the main highlights of the evening.
The networking session was followed by dinner attended by over 200 participants from a diverse array of tourism experts, ranging from tour operators and hoteliers to travel agencies, media and government representatives from China. Delegates parted with a renewed commitment to foster long-term partnerships and to ignite positive change in the tourism industry. The collaborative efforts forged at this networking session are expected to reshape the future of travel and hospitality in this region.
