Nepal Tourism Board Successfully Organizes Destination Promotion Program in MadridSaturday, March 29th, 2025

Madrid, Spain | March 29, 2025 – Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in Madrid, successfully organized a Destination Promotion Program in Madrid to strengthen tourism ties between Nepal and Spain. The event brought together travel trade professionals and media representatives, fostering meaningful discussions on expanding Nepal’s outreach in the Spanish travel market.

The program commenced with His Excellency Mr. Shanil Nepal, Ambassador of Nepal to Spain, welcoming the distinguished guests. He emphasized the longstanding friendship between Nepal and Spain and the growing number of Spanish travelers visiting Nepal every year.

Mr. Khadga Bikram Shah, Senior Manager, Nepal Tourism Board, delivered an insightful presentation highlighting Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes, adventure tourism, cultural heritage, and hospitality infrastructure. He provided key travel information, showcasing Nepal as a must-visit destination for Spanish travelers.

The keynote speech was delivered by the Secretary of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal, Mr. Binod Prakash Singh, who emphasized the rich Nepal-Spain relationship, the increasing number of Spanish tourists in Nepal, and the potential for greater collaboration. He highlighted the fact that Spain is one of the top contributors of tourists to Nepal from Europe.  He also acknowledged legendary Spanish mountaineers like Juanito Oiarzabal (6th Person to Climb all the 8000m peaks) and Edurne Pasaban (1st Woman to Climb all the 8000m peaks), and called for increased Spanish media coverage on Nepal’s beauty and tourism opportunities.

During the program, invitees actively engaged in discussions and inquired about Nepal’s road conditions, international airports, and availability of luxury hotels beyond Kathmandu. Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi, DG Department of Tourism, provided updates on improved connectivity, investment opportunities, airport expansion and the presence of luxury accommodations in destinations such as Chitwan, Pokhara, and Lumbini. He also expressed gratitude to all attendees, reinforcing Nepal’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Spain’s travel industry. 

The Destination Promotion Program in Madrid, which was moderated by Mr. Kundan Sharma, Sr. Officer, Nepal Tourism Board, successfully reinforced Nepal’s position as a premier travel destination and opened doors for greater collaboration between Nepal and international tourism stakeholders, fostering new partnerships for Nepal’s tourism growth.
