Familiarization tour to North Annapurna Base Camp organizedMonday, November 30th, 2020
Nepal Tourism Board in coordination with TAAN Regional Chapter, Pokhara jointly organized a week-long 20-member familiarization trip starting from Nov 29 towards North Annapurna Base Camp beginning from Narchyang near Tatopani on Beni – Jomsom Road.
This route is an attempt to re-enact history by following the footsteps of Maurice Herzog , famous French mountaineer and author of the world famous book Annapurna, who successfully submitted the Annapurna peak becoming the first human to set foot in the mountain above 8,000 m in 1950. The book not only created sensation in the adventure world but also popularize Nepal as the home of the Himalayas and outdoor adventure.
Thundering rivers, gracefully descending waterfalls, cascading hills , lush green pine forests with chirping birds, balmy sun, the silent peaks and the wilderness of the place are elements that culminate the trek into a lifetime experience. This initiative is carried out to reinvent and rediscover outdoor adventure tourism at a time when the pandemic is taking a heavy toll on tourism nationally and globally.
