The Tourism Year 2082 campaign of Koshi Province was officially inaugurated on April 9, 2025 amid a special ceremony organized by the Main Organizing Committee of the Koshi Province Government at RR Garden, located in the Tinjure region of Tehrathum.

The event brought together leaders and stakeholders from all levels of government, tourism authorities, and local communities to celebrate the beginning of a year-long initiative aimed at unlocking the tourism potential of Koshi Province.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh expressed optimism that the campaign would significantly contribute to Nepal’s national economy. He emphasized the importance of close coordination among the federal, provincial, and local governments to ensure that tourism becomes a meaningful vehicle for economic and social transformation.

Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki pledged to move forward by identifying and promoting new destinations. He highlighted the potential of establishing the provincial capital as a tourism-driven center, with areas like Tinjure Milke Jaljale—now declared the Capital of Rhododendrons—playing a pivotal role in attracting both domestic and international visitors, especially during the blooming season.

Speaking at the event, Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi remarked that the launch of Tourism Year 2082 is a timely and strategic step for both Koshi Province and the country at large. He stated that with its rich biodiversity, cultural heritage, and welcoming communities, the province holds immense potential to emerge as a model of inclusive and sustainable tourism development. He reaffirmed Nepal Tourism Board’s commitment to supporting such regional initiatives that align with the national vision of promoting Nepal as a year-round destination.

Also present at the ceremony were Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi, Koshi Province Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista, and Members of the House of Representatives Sita Gurung and Rajendra Rai, among others.

With a growing focus on infrastructure development, destination promotion, and community engagement, the Koshi Province Tourism Year 2082 is poised to become a catalyst for regional prosperity and national impact.
