Nepal Gears Up to Welcome Nordic Visitors at MATKA 2025Wednesday, January 15th, 2025

Helsinki, 15 January 2025 – Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the National Tourism Organization, alongside eight representatives from Nepal’s travel trade sector, is poised to make a significant impact at MATKA 2025, from January 16th to 19th. Positioned at Stall 7m128, the delegation will showcase Nepal as the ultimate Himalayan destination, offering unmatched biodiversity, adventure, and transformative experiences tailored for Nordic travelers.

Adding to the excitement, NTB, in partnership with the Finland Nepal Friendship Association, is hosting a Nepal Business Networking Dinner in Helsinki—a premier B2B event designed to strengthen ties with “Friends of Nepal.”

Nepal: A Natural Wonderland of Biodiversity

Nestled in the Himalayas, Nepal is a biodiversity hotspot. Despite occupying less than 0.1% of Earth’s land area, it is home to 3.2% of the world’s flora and 1.1% of its fauna, including iconic species like the Royal Bengal Tiger and Snow Leopard. With 12 national parks, 6 conservation areas, and 47% forest coverage, Nepal is a sustainable travel haven.

Adventure Awaits: Trekkers’ and Mountaineers’ Paradise

Nepal, home to 8 of the world’s 14 peaks exceeding 8,000 meters—including Mount Everest—is an adventurer’s dream. Whether conquering Everest, trekking the Annapurna Circuit, or discovering the wilderness of Bardiya National Park, Nepal promises thrilling journeys enriched by its vibrant cultural heritage.

Conservation Triumphs and Global Recognition

Nepal’s conservation success is a global beacon. TIME Magazine named Bardiya National Park’s Burhan Wilderness Camp one of the “Top 100 Places on Earth for 2024.” With its thriving wildlife, including tigers and one-horned rhinos, and the cultural richness of the Tharu community, Bardiya exemplifies Nepal’s unique blend of nature and heritage.

The Heart of Nepalese Hospitality

Guided by the ethos of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God), Nepal offers heartfelt hospitality. From trekking through Himalayan villages to participating in local festivals, every visitor becomes part of Nepal’s rich cultural fabric, experiencing warmth, unity, and celebration.
