Nepal Captivates and Regales at FITUR, MadridMonday, April 2nd, 2018

Nepal made its strong presence in 38th edition of FITUR with 11 travel-trade sector people joining the Nepali contingent led by Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents which was organized from 17 to 21 January 2018 in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, one of the major travel fairs of the world. Over 1,000 exhibiting companies from 165 countries/regions, participated in FITUR.

FITUR is a meeting point for professionals in whom they can establish lines of action, strategies and business alliances to energize and consolidate the business, innovating to answer the changing demands of the market.

In order to boost Nepal s attractiveness as a tourism destination and draw more visitors, varied products were being promoted. In the travel trade show, Nepal showcased its product that appeal to visitors whose travel itineraries included nature, adventure, culture, people, gastronomy, spiritual tourism, yoga, etc. A small nation with rich cultural heritage, best wildlife destination, one of the best wildlife managed destinations, along with adventure. Efforts were made to introduce some of the untouched destinations that can be a part of the itinerary designed, making it interesting for the potential traveler to discover some of the newest destinations thus adding value to both the destination promoters and to the buyers portfolio. Since Nepal made its presence through online medium as well, travel bloggers showed tremendous interest in Nepal as a tourist destination.

The first three days were opened for travel-trade sector for B2B meeting where business meetings were encouraged to generate business while rest two days were for consumers. The meetings were pre scheduled which gave the buyers the first hand information and helped them to understand destination in a better way. The meetings were conducted with some of the buyers from Adventure, Events, Culture, MICE Travel, Hotels sector and many more. This proved to be a robust platform for the suppliers to meet the buyers from different profiles with immediate potential travel requirements and thereby giving them the advantage of meeting their prospects face to face. Also, the leading minds in the travel trade industry also visited the travel fair and shared trending discussions and providing ways ahead in digital tourism marketing. Nepal stall received enormous and positive response from visitors who visited the stall and showed tremendous interest in the destination itself.
