Nepal Enchants COTTM 2025Sunday, April 27th, 2025
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) significantly impacted the 18th China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM 2025), demonstrating the country’s commitment to enhancing tourism relationships with China. The three-day event, held from April 24-26 at the Beijing National Agricultural Exhibition Hall, provided an excellent platform for Nepal to showcase its diverse tourism offerings among nearly 50 participating destinations.
During the event, Nepal Tourism Board delivered an immersive destination presentation that brought Nepal’s wonders to life for the Chinese audience. The carefully curated showcase highlighted the country’s extraordinary tourism potential, from snow-capped Himalayan peaks to ancient temples and vibrant cultural traditions. The presentation was strategically designed to ignite curiosity and wanderlust among potential Chinese visitors, offering compelling glimpses of Nepal’s nature and cultural wonders.
The Nepal pavilion received distinguished visitors including His Excellency Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, accompanied by Mr. Manhari Dangal, First Secretary, and Mr. Chinaman Singh Budhathoki, Vice Consul, Consulate General of Nepal, Chengdu. Their presence underscored the diplomatic significance of Nepal’s participation in this premier tourism event. The delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with travel trade representatives, exploring opportunities for enhanced tourism cooperation.
The meticulously designed Nepal stall served as a window into the country’s rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional Nepali cultural and architectural elements. The cultural artefacts were on display. Nepal stall also made visual presentations of iconic destinations. An interactive exhibit between the Nepali travel-trade sector and their Chinese counterpart highlighted adventure tourism opportunities. Nepal stalls made stunning displays of natural landscapes and biodiversity. Both NTB and the travel-trade sector held partnership discussions with Chinese tour operators and exchanged tourism market insights. This strategic participation at COTTM 2025 is expected to: Increase Chinese tourist arrivals in Nepal; strengthen bilateral tourism cooperation; Create new opportunities for tourism stakeholders; enhance Nepal’s position in the Chinese outbound tourism market; and foster long-term partnerships between Nepali and Chinese travel trade sectors.
COTTM is regarded as the industry’s most important platform and remains the only B2B event that focuses purely on the burgeoning outbound market. Since its establishment in April 2005, COTTM has made a significant contribution in the development of China’s outbound tourism market, providing a vital platform for international travel destinations and tourism product suppliers, especially from the long-haul and niche resource destinations, to communicate with the China tourism industry and to set up important partnerships with Chinese travel trade professionals.
