Nepal Tourism Board participated and promoted Nepal in a 3-day travel show TTG 2018 organized in Rimini Expo Centre, Rimini, Italy from 10 to 12 October 2018. The Fair, that marked its 55th edition this year, takes place annually in Rimini. It is the only fair in Italy where exhibitors can meet all the main Italian travel agencies and tour operators in a context, which is exclusively Business to Business (B2B).
The exhibition revolved around 3 days of pure business: efficiency, productivity, return on investments and a peek into what the future holds for the tourism industry, with over 72.000 visitors and around 750 journalists turn out in the three days of the Fair.
The Show which was organized by Italian Exhibition Group, was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Mr. Gian Marco Centinaio, which simultaneously organized other two hospitality events in the same dates and venue, to inspire potential Italian travelers with participation at the TTG Travel Experience.
Nepal’s participation at the fair is led by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with private sector companies. The Fair was an ideal premier tourism event for the Italian market especially the potential travelers, trade, international and particularly the European counterparts, and the media, with fresh communications and updates.
Considering Europe’s growing outbound tourism and growth of air-connectivity to Nepal from European cities in the last five years, efforts have been put to tap in its different segments especially from target and value markets like Italy. Based on past observation, Italy tourists to Nepal are either hardcore mountaineers or outdoor adventurers and leisure explorers, most interested in mountaineering, trekking, adventure activities, heritage tours, and human engagement.
Tourist arrival figures to Nepal this year has been on continuous rise from Italy and other European countries. Official data of international arrivals show that arrivals are soaring from Italy as well as from around the world. Tourist arrival in September 2018 was 91,820, with 33.8 % growth against September 2017. Total tourist arrival from January to September 2018 was 772,798. The Government of Nepal has reiterated its commitment to tourism time again, and has announced the Visit Nepal 2020 – Lifetime Experience, to reach the milestone of 2 million tourists in Nepal by 2020.
