Nepal Participates in OTM, Mumbai to promote tourism post-pandemicThursday, March 17th, 2022

Nepal Tourism Board along with 17 private sector companies made a successful participation at Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2022. OTM Mumbai, the first major international travel trade show with the objective to boost tourism post-pandemic with the broad theme of ‘Restart, Rebuild and Rejuvenate Travel & Tourism Economy’, commenced from 14th March 2022, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, organized for three-days. The event observed 600+ exhibitors from over 20+ countries, 29+ Indian States, and 7 Union Territories.

The event was jointly inaugurated by the dignitaries Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Hon’ble Tourism Minister, Maldives, Dr. M. Mathiventhan, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Tamilnadu, and Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, Managing Director, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation. Mr. Santosh Panta, Director, Nepal Tourism Board also participated in the inauguration ceremony of the event. Also Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Hon’ble Tourism Minister, Maldives, and Dr. M. Mathiventhan, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Tamilnadu personally visited the Nepal pavilion and extended their best wishes to Nepal’s tourism.

Nepal stall saw overwhelming queries regarding reopening of tourism activities in Nepal, restrictions related to COVID-19, Nepal as a wedding destination, new destinations apart from the regular ones, cross border land movement, availability of direct flights and land connectivity between Nepal and India, Nepal as a filming destination, incentives from government for MICE etc. India is the largest source market for Nepal. With the resumption of direct flights from Mumbai and Bangalore by our national carrier, Nepal Airlines; tourism activities are expected to catch its pace in Nepal. Nepal’s participation this year with substantial number of companies has been exceptional with reception of more than expected responses from pavilion visitors, is hoped to promote more networking to revive the tourism industry of Nepal. Nepal Tourism Board was also awarded with Design and Decoration Award among NTO category by the organizers.
