Nepal’s participation at SATTE 2022 at India Travel Expo, Greater Noida, Delhi – NCR, India, successfully concluded on May 20, 2022. Led by Nepal Tourism Board and in coordination with national flag carrier Nepal Airlines and 20 companies from the private sector travel industry of Nepal, participation has been a milestone in creating visible presence in India market and striding toward recovery.
Private sector participants expressed optimism about the turnout of audience and potential buyers at the 3-day program that brought in thousands of audience from the region. Nepal Stall received about 3,000 visitors at the fair. Visitors to the Nepal Stall included professionals from the travel, tourism, hospitality sector. Travel media, PR and marketing professionals also visited NTB Stall and interacted with NTB officials.
His Excellency Ambassador of Nepal to India Dr. Shankar P. Sharma and his team from the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi visited Nepal Stall and met with NTB delegates and representatives from the private sector. Nepal Stall was also visited by His Excellency Ambassador of Turkey to India and Nepal Mr. Firat Sunel, who interacted with officials of NTB. Both appreciated the promotion of Nepal through participation at SATTE 2022.
According to Mr. Mani Raj Lamichhane, Director of NTB and Head of Nepal delegation to SATTE 2022, the response has generated excitement and positivity among trade participants. ” We were extremely busy giving destination updates while our travel trade representatives were fully engaged and have expressed satisfaction with the outcome,” he stated. “This is definitely one of the biggest tourism fairs Nepal has participated in the aftermath of the pandemic. The platform was well used and Nepal put up a great show. We put out the message that we are ready as a destination and there was equal degree of reciprocation from the market. We are definitely on the path of revival.”
Regional tourism especially tourism from neighboring countries has been highly prioritized by NTB in the wake of the pandemic. NTB CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi has time and again stressed on the value of India market for Nepal. He has focused on border tourism promotion and development, land travel facilitation, in view of the Indian travelers.
“Indian travelers have always loved Nepal, therefore, we want to ensure our tourists from India get the best of Nepal experience,” said Dr. Regmi. “Nepal offers a whole range of experiences now and we need to communicate the same with the market. In terms of potential travelers, apart from the traditional market, we also want to reach out to the millennials, family holiday goers, corporates and other niche market. There is so much for every group and every sector. With ease of the entry protocol and almost 100 percent vaccination of Nepali population, you can holiday safely with your loved ones in Nepal”
SATTE is recognized as one of the biggest travel shows in South Asia. This year the fair offered a comprehensive platform to over 35,000 domestic and international buyers and professionals including NTOs and STOs from all over India and neighboring markets.
