Nepal promoted as a destination for ‘Lifetime Experience’ in JapanThursday, September 5th, 2019
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in coordination with Embassy of Nepal in Japan organized ‘Nepal Destination Promotion Program’ in two cities of Japan; Osaka and Tokyo on 29th of August and 2nd of September 2019 respectively. The programs were organized after landing of national flag carrier in Kansai International Airport and were focused on promoting Nepal as a destination for “Lifetime Experience” in context of Visit Nepal Year 2020.
Director of NTB Mr. Mani Raj Lamichhane and Manager Mr. Khadga Bikram Shah had an insightful presentation on Destination Nepal amid a gathering of more than seventy prominent Japanese tour operators and media in Osaka and Tokyo respectively. Before the presentations, videos on Nepal’s attractions were screened to draw attention of the audience. The presentation was focused on major tourism attractions and activities of Nepal in the context of Visit Nepal Year 2020. In both the programs, Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Her Excellency Prativa Rana shed light on the cordial bilateral relationships existing between the two countries and acknowledged for the technical support provided by Japan to Nepal. She expressed her satisfaction over the resumed NAC flights between Kathmandu and Osaka after 12 years and hoped that it will help to increase visitors from Japan to Nepal.
In the program in Osaka, State Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation of Nepal, Honorable Dhan Bahadur Buda highlighted on Visit Nepal Year 2020 and requested the Japanese operators to send tourists from Japan as NAC has started direct flights between Kathmandu-Osaka sectors. Kansai Ambassador His Excellency Jota Yamamoto expressed his happiness for operation of direct flights between the countries and hoped that more Japanese will visit Nepal in coming days. Federal Members of Parliament from Nepal, high ranking officials from Government of Nepal, Nepal Airlines and tour / travel companies and cargo agencies from Nepal were also present in the program organized in Osaka. Nepal Airlines also made a presentation regarding its maiden flight to Osaka.
In the program in Tokyo, Parliamentary Vice-minister His Excellency Norikazu Suzuki recalled the memorable visit of his friends to beautiful Nepal and showed his interest on visiting Nepal very soon. He reiterated that direct flight between Nepal to Japan will increase the confidence of Japanese Tourists to choose Nepal as their holiday destination in the coming future.
In both the programs, Nepal Tourism Board had distributed the tourism promotional collateral with special souvenir to the invitees. Similarly, Nepali cultural dances were performed by the group of Nepali artists showcasing Mountain, Hills and Terai culture. The invites have appreciated the cultural program as they could feel the ‘Nepali Culture’ in their town.
The Nepal Destination Program conducted in the cities of Osaka and Tokyo have provided an opportunity to educate outbound tour operator from Japan about Nepal and enhance their confident to sell Nepal as a must travel destination. Nepal is a well-liked destination for holiday goers in Japan. Japanese tourist arrivals to Nepal in 2018 was 29,768. With the extension of air connectivity in the Nepal-Japan sector, Japanese visitors to Nepal look promising for the Visit Nepal 2020 and beyond.
