Nepal Promoted in Utrecht, the NetherlandsTuesday, January 22nd, 2019
Nepal Tourism Board participated and promoted Nepal in a 5-day travel event Vakantiebeurs 2019, one of the premier travel shows in Europe. The show was organized from 9th to 13th January in Jaarbeurs, Utrecht, where 100-plus destinations, travel and tour intermediaries, heritage owners and service providers from the world over participated and promoted their business and services to the prospective buyers. Keeping in mind the importance of the tourists originating from the region, Nepal Tourism Board has maintained participation in the event for a significant number of years.
A 1-day Travel Congress was organized on 8th Jan, which was participated in by the representatives of National Tourism Organizations, travel and tour intermediaries, Tour Operators, Travels Agents and communication platforms. Not only were key insights acquired on contemporary knowledge areas viz. Purpose Travel: Trend Update, Sustainability, Innovations, Influence Marketing and Content Generation, it also proved to be the right kind of platform for a healthy exchange of ideas, networking and for securing inspirations. NTB officials participated in the program.
Through the entire fair period of 5 days, the Nepal booth witnessed a steady stream of visitors, both Dutch and other nationals, whose queries were mostly directed towards safety, mobility, progress of restoration (post-earthquake) and product diversity. Destination awareness is visibly very high among the Dutch people, and almost all who visited Nepal had repeat visit as a key agenda. The imminent Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign also generated a fair deal of interest among the prospective travelers, with queries focused on special programs, activities and benefits to the tourists. Along with the conventional nature, culture and adventure-based products, Nepal also highlighted the promising disciplines like heritage cuisine and lifestyle. His Excellency The Ambassador of Nepal to the European Union and Benelux, Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa visited the Nepal booth on Jan 9th and interacted with the Nepalese travel trade present there.
In a special program organized by Nepali Entrepreneurs’ Association, Belgium in Antwerp on 14th Jan, Nepal Tourism Board multimedia kit was handed over by the NTB officials. In the forum, an understanding was reached between Nepal Tourism Board and the Belgium-based Nepalese restaurant owners to screen Nepal promotion Audio visuals in their respective outlets. Likewise, on 15th June, the Tourism Board Officials had a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa in Brussels, in which issues crucial to Visit Nepal Year 2020 promotion in the Benelux region were discussed and areas of further cooperation were identified.
