Nepal Sales Missions Successfully conducted in MalaysiaWednesday, December 21st, 2022

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the National Tourism Organization, with an objective of promoting Nepal as an exotic Himalayan holiday destination organized Sales Missions in Malaysia along with Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA), in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia on 16th December and 19th December, 2022 respectively.
Held in Berjiya Times Square Hotel of Kuala Lumpur, chief guest His Excellency Mr. Dilli Raj Poudel, Ambassador of Nepal to Malaysia assured full cooperation from the Embassy for any kind of support to strengthen the relation between Nepal and Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur event which was followed by a dinner, saw the footfalls of around 75 outbound travel agents. During the event, NATTA issued door prizes to lucky winner to 6 attendants from Kuala Lumpur Sales Missions.
Penang, which is one of the important cities of Northern Malaysia, and a niche target for Chinese Origin Buddhist followers in Malaysia, had a nice footfall at the sales missions program held at Golden Sands Shangri-La Hotel. Chief Guest Respected secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal highlighted about the importance tourism for Nepal and extended any kind of support to private travel and trade sectors from Malaysia and Nepal. Also, NATTA for the event held in Penang, distributed lucky winner to 9 participants. Nine travel-trade sectors participated in the Sales Missions along with Nepal Airlines Corporation.
For both the events in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Senior Manager of Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. Sunil Sharma made presentation highlighting tourism products and services of Nepal. Similarly, Chief Executive Officer of NTB, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi highlighted facts and figures concerning the number of tourist’s arrival from Malaysia and emphasized to raise the number of tourists from Malaysia and requested the outbound travel agencies to work on full occupancy of daily air flights connecting Malaysia and Nepal. Also, Dr. Regmi focused on cultural tours and pilgrimage to Nepal where Malaysians could be secure and get any kind of support from Nepal Tourism Board.
Anticipating the holiday seasons to come during the Chinese New Year, this Sales Missions held in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, could see positive impacts on Malaysian arrival during the Chinese New Year. Also, many enquiries of Hindu pilgrimage tours were made by the local Indian community of Malaysia.
It is to note that, post pandemic, among the rising number of international tourists to Nepal, Malaysians have occupied a major chunk of arrivals. Thus, with this Sales Missions held in Malaysia with a high level delegation led by secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepalese travel and trade are very excited about Malaysia as a source market for Nepal.
