Nepal Show, a Resounding Success at MITT 2025Friday, March 21st, 2025

March 20, 2025/ Moscow, Russia

Nepal’s participation at the Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT) 2025 was a remarkable success, as the destination showcased its diverse and unique travel experiences to a highly receptive audience at the Crocus Expo from March 18 to 20.

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) led the show with six private sector tour companies: Radha Krishna Holidays, Adventure Planner, Kailash View Tours & Treks, Explore Vacation, Friends Adventure Team, and Himalayan Glacier Trekking.

Private sector representatives expressed that the platform had been ideal to reach to Russia market and were highly optimist about the outcomes of their engagements.

Nepal delegation was led by Mr. Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and NTB Executive Committee Member. Similarly, His Excellency Mr. Janga Bahadur Chauhan, Ambassador of Nepal to Russia, visited the Nepal Pavilion during inauguration. The officials met and interacted with visitors to the Nepal Pavilion underscoring Nepal’s commitment to strengthening tourism ties with Russia.

MITT, recognized as a premier event in the travel and tourism industry, celebrated its 30th edition in 2024. The previous year’s exhibition featured 909 companies from 30 countries and attracted 16,120 visitors from 59 countries and 83 Russian regions. This year’s footfall estimated to be more than 17,000 reaffirmed its significance as a crucial platform for destination promotion in the region.

With Nepal receiving over 13,000 Russian visitors in 2024, the market holds substantial potential for growth, given Russians’ affinity for exploration, adventure, and rich cultural experiences.

The historic ties between Nepal and Russia in tourism date back to the Late Boris Lissanevitch, the legendary pioneer,  who introduced Nepal to international travelers and established the country’s first luxury hotel in 1951.

NTB’s participation in MITT 2025 marks an important step in revitalizing this relationship post-COVID-19, aiming to attract more Russian travelers and strengthen tourism collaboration.

Russian market holds substantial promise for Nepal’s tourism sector as the country’s outbound numbers and spending on travel is expected to increase in 2025, with potential travelers’ growing interest in exploring diverse destinations.
