Nepal Showcases Lifetime Tourism Experiences at ITB Berlin 2025Friday, March 7th, 2025
Berlin, Germany – Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), along with 28 tourism industry stakeholders, successfully participated in ITB Berlin 2025, the world’s leading travel trade show, held from March 4 to 6, 2025. The event served as a crucial platform for Nepal to highlight its diverse tourism offerings, forge new business relationships, and strengthen ties with global travel trade partners.
Nepal’s delegation as led by Honorable Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Badri Prasad Pandey and comprising of airlines, hotels, travel and tour operators, actively engaged with international stakeholders, generating strong interest in Nepal as a premier travel destination. The Nepal stall was jointly inaugurated by the Honorable Minister and His Excellency Dr. Shail Rupakheti, Nepal’s Ambassador to Germany. The pavilion effectively showcased Nepal’s cultural heritage, adventure tourism, and spiritual experiences, drawing significant attention from global buyers and media representatives.
As a key highlight of Nepal’s participation, the Nepali Embassy in Berlin and NTB jointly hosted a special Nepal Evening on March 4, 2025. The event, attended by around 200 guests, including ambassadors of Mongolia, Israel, Romania, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Vietnam, tourism professionals, and representatives of various associations, provided a platform to promote Nepal’s tourism, art, and culture. Honorable Minister Mr. Badri Prasad Pandeya emphasized Nepal’s unique tourism offerings and invited German travelers to visit Nepal, while His Excellency Dr. Shail Rupakheti addressed bilateral ties and investment opportunities. NTB CEO Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi and Senior Manager Mr. Rohini Prasad Khanal presented insights into Nepal’s tourism landscape and future initiatives. During the event, Mr. Jurgen Steinmertz, Chairman of the World Travel Network, shared his four decades of experiences visiting Nepal. Mr. Dil Gurung, a long-time advocate for Nepalese tourism in Germany, was recognized as a Tourism Emissary by NTB for his contributions. The event featured captivating cultural performances by local Nepali artists, a networking dinner offering authentic Nepali cuisine, and the distribution of promotional materials highlighting Nepal’s diverse tourism experiences.
Ministerial Summit
Honorable Minister alongwith H.E. ambassador and NTB CEO attended the Ministerial Summit organized by UN Tourism on March 5 on the theme of “Enhancing Investment, Ensuring Peace: Harnessing Growth, Shaping the Future”. Honorable Tourism Ministers from more than 23 countries from around the globe attended the meeting and shared their policies, programs and priorities in their respective countries on the given theme. Honorable Minister Mr. Pandey emphasized on the importance of sustainability for the sustained growth of tourism. He further expressed the commitment to attracting investment and promoting Nepal as sustainable tourism destination.
PATWA International Travel Awards
Honorable Minister, Mr. Badri Prasad Pandeya, was awarded the prestigious “Tourism Minister of the Year – Himalayan Region” by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA). This award highlights his outstanding leadership and dedication to promoting sustainable tourism in Nepal. Minister Pandeya also delivered a keynote speech on “AI & Sustainable Tourism,” emphasizing Nepal’s strategic approach to integrating technology and inclusivity into its tourism sector.
Nepal’s participation in ITB Berlin 2025 provided trade participants with valuable opportunities to reconnect with existing networks, establish new partnerships, and explore potential business prospects, while also gaining insights into the evolving global tourism landscape. The participation further reaffirmed Nepal’s position as a resilient and attractive destination for travelers worldwide.
