Nepal Showcases Tourism Potential at Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2025Sunday, May 18th, 2025

Guangzhou, China – GITF, one of Asia’s premier travel exhibitions, attracts thousands of industry stakeholders annually. Nepal’s presence at the fair aligns with NTB’s strategy to position the country as a must-visit destination in post-pandemic recovery efforts. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) successfully participated in the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) 2025, held from 15th -17th May 2025 at Canton Fair Complex, Guangzhou, China. The delegation led by Nepal Tourism Board Director Mr. Santosh Panta and Mr. Robin Regmi along with Ten (10) private sector companies represented Nepal’s vibrant tourism sector that highlighted the country’s diverse travel offerings to the international visitors and trade partners. Mr. Bharat Khanal, Consular General of Nepal in Guangzhou attended the opening ceromany and visited the Nepal Pavilion to encourage the participating companies and NTB Officials.
The Nepali delegation engaged with global travel professionals, tour operators, and media to promote Nepal’s unique attractions, including its world-renowned trekking routes, UNESCO heritage sites, wildlife adventures, and rich cultural experiences. The pavilion featured interactive sessions and B2B meetings to strengthen tourism ties between Nepal and China, one of the fastest-growing and key source markets. Mr. Regmi, Sr. Officer, stated, “Our participation in GITF 2025 underscores Nepal’s commitment to expanding its global tourism footprint. With China being a vital market, this fair provided an excellent platform to showcase Nepal’s unparalleled natural beauty and hospitality.
Mr. Santosh Panta shared a destination presentation “Nepal Destination Seminar” where the Chinese Operators and other participants from various Asian Countries actively engaged with interest in Nepal’s Culture and Adventure. Furthermore, Nepal also participated in a Panel Discussion on “Pathways to Sustainable Outbound Tourism” with panelists Dr. Peter Jeng, Deputy Sec. General, EU-China Commission, Mr. Santosh Panta, Senior Director, NTB and Mr. Chinthaka Liyanaarachi, Deputy Director, Srilanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. The panel discussion emphasized the importance of growing global interests in Sustainable Tourism, Mass Tourism and Promotional Programs specific to Chinese Outbound Market and Strategy.
The engagement is believed to lead increased visitor numbers and stronger partnerships with the Chinese Travel Fraternity. Private sector participants included Nepal Social Treks, Mountain Tiger Nepal, Shuang Qi Tours, Nepal Big Mountain Travel Company, Asian Adventure, Jugal Holidays, Pearl Holidays, Dragon Holidays, Nasyana Tours Service and Canton International Travel, who presented tailored travel packages catering to luxury, adventure, and cultural tourism. The delegation also stressed on Nepal’s improved infrastructure, new travel routes and sustainable tourism initiatives. GITF 2025 awarded various Destinations and Nepal was acknowledged with “Most Popular Cultural Tourism Destination” of the Year 2025.
