Nepal Steals the Show at FITUR 2026Monday, January 26th, 2026

FITUR2026, one of the biggest and most important travel fairs in Europe, concludes in 25^th January 2026 in Madrid, Spain with grand success invigorating tourism business, collaboration and partnership at global level. The 46^th edition of the fair held from 21st to 24th January 2026 was participated in by 10 thousand companies from 61 countries (5 percent increase from the last year in the number of participants) according to the organizers. NTB and Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agencies (NATTA) jointly collaborated in securing the participation of 30 Nepali travel, tour agencies and tourism entrepreneurs in the fair. Besides, the event was graced by Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Government of Nepal Mr. Mukunda Prasad Niroula and participated in by NTB Chief Executive Officer Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, NTB officials, NATTA Executive Committee Members among others 

Inaugurating Nepal Pavillion on the first day, Secretary Niroula congratulated the travel tour operators and hospitality entrepreneurs on participating in the event and wished them successful business deals during the historic show. Similarly, NTB CEO, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi expressed confidence that an influential international tourism fair like FITUR played a strategic importance in positioning Nepal in Spain and the west European countries, as one the best destinations to travel not just for trekking and mountaineering but also for experiencing diversity in culture, ethnicity, language, flora and fauna.

On the second day, a networking event entitled “NepalConnect” was organized with an objective of giving the participating Nepalese travel, tour and tourism entrepreneurs an opportunity to interact with the international travel and tour operators and to connect them with Nepal in terms of building partnerships, developing businesses, launching projects. 

Addressing the “NepalConnect”, Secretary of MOCTCA Mr. Niraula welcomed over 50 international tour operators and encouraged them to do businesses with the Nepali tourism entrepreneurs and assured them of quality services. Also present on the occasion were the officials from Nepal Embassy including Charge d’ Affairs of Nepal Embassy in Spain, Director at the Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific (RDAP) and officials from UN Tourism, representatives from media, videographers, bloggers and vloggers, social media influencers, representatives from various international organizations including red cross. 

One of the major attractions of the event was Nepali cultural show organized at Nepal Pavillion on last two days of the fair that focused on B2C shows. The cultural performances stole the show as several visitors including the artists from neighboring Malaysia booth actively participated. The performance, showcasing the diversity in terms of cultures, languages, dances, songs and music to the international audiences, pulled a big crowd in front of the Nepal booth and made the show momentous and eventful. 

The fair provided smooth access to cutting-edge technologies, empowering passionate professionals with high decision-making power representing leading global companies, discovering latest trend in tourism, and practicing sustainable tourism.  In addition, this year FITUR 2026 organizers launched specialized areas such as FITUR cruises, FITUR LGBT+, FITUR Lingua, FITUR Know How and Export, FITUR Screen, FITUR Sports, FITUR Talent, FITUR Techy, FITUR Woman, FITUR for all.
