A high-level Nepali tourism delegation successfully participated in the “Familiarization and B2B Meeting in Uttar Pradesh, India,” held from January 8 to 14, 2025. Uttar Pradesh Tourism organized the event in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). This pioneering initiative aimed to deepen bilateral tourism ties, enhance spiritual tourism, and foster business partnerships between the two neighbouring countries.
The 24-member delegation, led by NTB, included prominent travel agencies, hotels, and media representatives from Nepal. The event featured immersive visits to iconic spiritual destinations and key cultural sites in Uttar Pradesh, starting from Mathura and Vrindaban. Highlights included Krishna Janmabhoomi and other revered landmarks. The delegation also toured the Taj Mahal in Agra, where a significant B2B meeting provided a platform for networking and collaboration with Indian tourism stakeholders.
In Lucknow, Ms Eesha Priya, Director General of UP Tourism, warmly welcomed the Nepali delegation, who emphasized the importance of collaborative tourism promotion between India and Nepal. She highlighted the potential for joint initiatives to enhance tourism growth in the region. Further discussions took place during meetings in Varanasi and Ayodhya, two of India’s most significant spiritual hubs.
“This first-of-its-kind initiative marks an important step towards strengthening regional tourism ties. We see immense potential for collaboration with Indian stakeholders in creating new tourism circuits and experiences,” said NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi. He expressed optimism about the outcomes of the event, reaffirming NTB’s commitment to fostering cross-border tourism and cultural exchange.
The delegation’s participation not only helped promote Nepal as a key tourism destination but also opened up new partnership opportunities in areas such as spiritual tourism, heritage tours, and cross-border travel. Both NTB and UP Tourism pledged to continue joint efforts in developing innovative tourism products and marketing initiatives for the mutual benefit of both nations.
This landmark event is expected to pave the way for enhanced regional cooperation in the tourism sector and contribute to economic growth through increased tourist arrivals and cultural exchange.
