Nepal Tourism Board and Austrian Crisis Preparedness Team discuss Crises ManagementThursday, December 29th, 2022

A high level delegates of Austria led by HE Mrs Wieser Katharina, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary at the Austrian Embassy, New Delhi are currently in Nepal as a part of their Crisis Management Preparedness of Austria. The team met members of Tourism Crisis Management Cell in Nepal Tourism Board office where the delegates discussed about Nepal’s tourism crises cases and management strategies. In the program, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi welcomed high level delegates including the ambassador and ministers from Austria with a note of similarities Nepal share with Austria and vulnerability both countries face towards climate change being mountainous countries. Further, Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa presented Nepal’s tourism prospects and recent experiences of crisis management. She highlighted the initiatives being taken during COVID which got NTB to win prestigious awards from the Wanderlust and PATA. The Ambassador and the ministers expressed their interest to learn more about response mechanisms and roles of different security agencies including Nepal Police, Nepal Armed Police and Nepali Army. Moreover, Mr. Rajesh Babu Shrestha, Honorary Consul to Austria; Mr. Krishna Shah, member of executive committee of the Board, DSP and inspector of Tourist Police also attended the meeting. The Board is positive for the future collaboration with the government of Austria for Crisis Management.
