SATTE: A Strategic Platform for Regional Tourism Growth

SATTE is South Asia’s leading B2B travel and tourism exhibition, attracting thousands of exhibitors and buyers from across India and globally. Over the years, Nepal has effectively leveraged this platform to position itself not only as a trekking and pilgrimage destination, but as a comprehensive tourism hub offering luxury travel, wellness retreats, wildlife adventures, MICE tourism, destination weddings, and experiential holidays.

Strategic Focus Areas for SATTE 2026

At SATTE 2026, Nepal will highlight:

  • Religious & Spiritual Tourism – Featuring iconic sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Muktinath Temple, Janaki Mandir, and Lumbini.
  • Short-Haul & Weekend Getaways – Cultural heritage in Kathmandu Valley, scenic leisure in Pokhara, and wildlife safaris in Chitwan National Park.
  • Luxury & Wellness Tourism – Boutique properties, premium mountain resorts, and holistic wellness experiences.
  • Adventure Tourism – Paragliding, rafting, mountain biking, bungee jumping, trekking, and Everest heli experiences.
  • MICE Tourism – Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions supported by experiential add-ons.
  • Destination Weddings & Honeymoons – Himalayan panoramas, serene lakes, and luxury hospitality venues.

Tourism Resilience & Strong Indian Market Momentum

Following the recent Gen-Z Movement, Nepal’s tourism sector has demonstrated strong resilience, with visitor arrivals rebounding significantly and tourism services operating at full capacity nationwide. All trekking routes, adventure activities, heritage sites, airlines, and hospitality services are functioning seamlessly with enhanced safety protocols and 24/7 tourist assistance systems.

Indian tourists continue to lead international arrivals, particularly during major festivals and events such as the Pokhara Street Festival in Pokhara and preparations for Maha Shivaratri at Pashupatinath Temple.

India remains Nepal’s largest source market, contributing 25–30% of total international arrivals. Notably, January 2026 recorded a 30% growth in Indian arrivals compared to January 2025, reflecting rising interest and renewed travel confidence.

Strengthening Indo-Nepal Tourism Partnership

Nepal and India share an open border of approximately 1,850 km, complemented by strong air connectivity through Nepal Airlines, Buddha Air, Air India Express, and IndiGo. Indian travelers benefit from stable currency exchange (NPR 1.60 = INR 1)

Nepal’s participation at SATTE 2026 reinforces its commitment to strengthening Indo-Nepal tourism partnerships and promoting sustainable, inclusive, and diversified tourism growth.

“SATTE remains a strategic platform to strengthen Nepal–India tourism ties and promote diversified experiences for Indian travelers,” said Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO, Nepal Tourism Board.

At SATTE 2026, Nepal is not just promoting destinations — it is presenting ready-to-sell, high-demand, profit-generating tourism products for the Indian travel trade.
