Nepal’s participation in the 31st edition of Arabian Travel Market 2024 (ATM 2024) at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) successfully concluded on May 9 2024 in Dubai, UAE led by Nepal Tourism Board along with 9 companies from private sector and National Flag Carrier Nepal Airlines. Nepal’s participation has recorded an outstanding footfall of visitors in Nepal stall and their overwhelming response is creating visible presence in Middle East market especially in UAE.
This 31st edition of Arabian Travel Market welcomed more than 33,000 visitors from over 160 countries to DWTC from 6-9 May 2024 – an 11% rise over last year. There were over 2,600 exhibiting companies took part in ATM 2024, which featured industry professionals from around the world. Nepal’s presence in ATM was able to feature it as a unique and diversified destinations and activities to native Emiratis and Expats. More than 46,000 professionals from over 160 countries including 33,500 visitors attended in the fair.
Private sector participants expressed optimism about the presence and response of potential buyers at the 4-day program that will help to increase tourist arrival from UAE. The travel trade participants were happy to receive exciting curiosity of visitors. NTB officials met and interacted with wholesalers, travel media, PR, and marketing representatives and influencers during the fair.
His Excellency Ambassador of Nepal to UAE Mr. Tej Bahadur Chhetri and his team from the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi visited Nepal Stall and met with NTB officials and representatives from the private sector. Nepal Stall was also visited by Dr. Aasif Ali Siddiqui, Chairman of Nepal Business Council, Dubai and shows his continuous commitment to support in inbound tourism of Nepal from UAE. Mr. Baris Kahriman, member of World Tourism Forum also visited Nepal stall and admires on Nepal’s tourism potentials and agreed to connect with tourism professionals and experts of World Tourism Forum.
The head of Nepal team to ATM 2024 Mr. Suman Ghimire had a side-line meeting with His Excellency Ibrahim Faisal, Minister of Tourism, Republic of Maldives. Both appreciated the promotion of Nepal and Maldives at ATM 2024. The meeting was successfully completed to share tourism experiences of both countries and support on tourism inbound to Nepal and Maldives.
Head of Nepal team to ATM 2024 Mr. Suman Ghimire met with Chief Marketing Officer of Air India Express Mr. Siddhartha Butalia and his team and had a talk on their upcoming plan to operate flights in Mumbai -Kathmandu-Mumbai and Bengaluru- Kathmandu-Bengaluru routes.
“We are excited to welcome more Emiratis and Expats from UAE as we have prepared good number of luxury and international chain hotels and resorts” said Suman Ghimire, Manager of Nepal Tourism Board. Mr. Jeevan Kumar Bhattarai, Act. Director of Nepal Airlines opined on the importance of Nepal’s presence in ATM which contributes to increase in the arrival of foreign tourists to Nepal. Ms. Loveen, National Geography visited Nepal stall and admired Nepal’s diversified tourism attractions and agreed to support destination promotion in National Geography print and online.
Mr. Suman Ghimire, Manager and Ms. Rikhi Maya Rai, Officer participated along with Nepal Airlines delegation and nine companies from Nepal’s Travel Trade Industry namely Kora Tours, Around the Himalayas Pvt. Ltd., Himalayan 360, The Everest Hotel, The Soaltee Hotel & resorts, Explore Himalaya Travel & Adventure, Namaste Tourism & Holidays Pvt. Ltd., Satyam Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Incredible Mountains Pvt. Ltd.
The travel trade representatives of Nepal said that they were extremely busy giving tour packages and destination features to the visitors. The platform of ATM was well used and Nepal put up a great show as mentioned by them.
