NTB CEO Joins Panel at Ratopati Tourism Conclave to Redefine Nepal’s Tourism for 2030Saturday, January 11th, 2025
On January 11, 2025, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) CEO Deepak Raj Joshi participated as a distinguished panelist at the Ratopati Tourism Conclave, where he shared insightful perspectives on the subject “Redefining Nepal’s Tourism Experience for 2030.” The event, attended by key stakeholders from the tourism industry, provided a platform to discuss strategies and opportunities for advancing Nepal’s tourism sector.
CEO Joshi highlighted the government’s ambitious preparations for the upcoming Tourism Decade 2025–2035, emphasizing three core areas of focus: infrastructure development, workforce enhancement, and product innovation.
During his remarks, he stressed the importance of redefining Nepal’s tourism offerings to better align with emerging global trends and visitor expectations. Collaboration among various ministries was underscored as a critical factor in achieving this transformation. Joshi particularly emphasized increasing connectivity with neighboring India as a strategic priority to boost tourist arrivals and foster cross-border tourism.
In addressing the challenges of tourism management, Joshi outlined the importance of preparedness for periodic crises that impact the sector. He called for decisive actions and comprehensive strategies to ensure resilience and sustainability in the face of such challenges.
Joshi also shed light on NTB’s collaborative model, where 55% of the organization’s involvement stems from private sector partnerships. He advocated for enhanced internal preparedness within the tourism ecosystem while emphasizing the need for robust international promotion efforts. Institutional inefficiencies across various departments were identified as a key area for improvement, with Joshi urging better coordination under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
The Ratopati Tourism Conclave provided a vital platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to share insights and collaborate on redefining Nepal’s tourism landscape. With a vision for sustainable growth and strategic reforms, NTB remains committed to positioning Nepal as a premier global destination by 2030.
