NTB Organized Cross Border Sales Mission program in Indian Tier 2 Cities – Varanasi, Gorakhpur & LucknowTuesday, February 14th, 2023
In a bid to update the key Indian Outbound Tour Operators in border cities & promote Nepalese tourism products, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in association with Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) organized Cross Border Sales Mission program in the cities of Varanasi, Gorakhpur & Lucknow on Jan 24 th , 25 th & 27 th , 2023 respectively. The sales mission programs aimed at cashing in the tourism potentiality from the most populous state of India, Uttar Pradesh; having close proximity to Nepal. The programs in each city primarily focused on showcasing Nepal’s tourism attractions along with direct Business to Business networking with Indian travel trade counterparts.
In the post COVID scenario the cross border sales mission being the important tourism promotion event, NTB and Nepalese trade used this platform to share the Nepal’s success stories of resilience in the past, business travel packages and extended Nepal’s sincere appreciation to Indian trade and media for each and every support and cooperation to Nepalese tourism in difficult times.
During the program, NTB highlighted on Nepal’s various dimensions of tourism offerings ranging from the vast natural and cultural heritages to rewarding spiritual journey, to luxury, which suit the interests and meet demand of all age groups.
India has always been the major source market for Nepal. Many tier 2 and 3 cities in India have been observing rapid economic growth with the increase of disposable income. The fast emergence of Indian middle class has drawn the attention of many Asian tourism destinations to attract them to their countries. Nepal always enjoys the competitive advantages over these Asian tourism destinations for welcoming the Indian tourists in Nepal because of the easy access, no visa policy and cultural similarity.
All the events in these cities received active and overwhelming participation of Indian trade and media. Mr. Suman Ghimire, Manager of NTB made extensive product presentation which comprised of existing and new tourism products and services of Nepal. The programs in all cities were also addressed by the Association representatives of the leading Indian Tour operators and discussed about the various dimension of experiences that Indian visitors can get by visiting Nepal.
The Indian market continues to be the number one contributor of international visitor arrivals to Nepal. Last year in 2022, Nepal received more than 2,00,000.00 Indian tourists via air surface from India.
