Nepal Tourism Board in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel AgentsThursday, April 20th, 2023

Nepal Tourism Board in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents, jointly organised Nepal Sales Mission in Beijing, China on 19 April 2023 with an aim of promoting prospects of tourism of Nepal in China.

Addressing the program, His Excellency Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to China expressed his happiness to see the groups of Nepalese and Chinese tour operators’ collectively promoting tourism businesses between two countries. Tourism as a means of promoting soft diplomacy of a particular country, he further shed light on the longstanding bilateral relations existing between the two countries in various areas from high-level visits to people-to-people contacts. Appreciating China for enlisting Nepal as the priority country for outbound group tourism of China, referring to China being fully open after three years hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic, he requested both Chinese and Nepali operator to work together in promoting tourism of Nepal. He also expressed his commitment to provide full support on behalf of the Government of Nepal, to promote bilateral tourism between Nepal and China.

Similarly, representative from Nepal Tourism Board Ranu Shah shared that NTB in partnership with Embassy of Nepal and NATTA organized the sales mission for the first time in the post-pandemic situation and the program as such provides a lot of opportunities for the two countries to unleash the potential of tourism promotion between two countries.

Likewise, representative from Air China Jie Wang underscored the importance of increasing connecting flights from various cities of china to Kathmandu. He expressed hope that Nepal’s tourism will be boosted with the increment in the number of flights.

Welcoming the participants, Ms. Yubika Bhandari, Coordinator of NATTA, informed that Nepalese tourism industry is fully prepared to provide the best service to visitors and invites Chinese tourists to experience the beauty of Nepal and the warm hospitality of its people. The tourism industry in Nepal is grateful for the warm welcome and encouragement it has received from travel agents.

The program was attended by over 100 participants including Nepali travel and tour companies, Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Administration, Beijing Tourism Industry Association and Secretary General of Travel Agency Branch, Chinese media among others.  

Prior to this program, the sales mission were held in Chengdu and Kunming on April 15th and 17th respectively.
