NTB Urges Caution for Travelers in High Himalayan RegionsTuesday, October 28th, 2025
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) urges all mountaineering and trekking teams, as well as domestic and international tourists, to exercise utmost caution while traveling in high Himalayan and hilly regions over the next few days.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the influence of a western disturbance and a low-pressure system formed over the Arabian Sea is currently affecting Nepal’s weather. As a result, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are expected across several parts of the country, particularly in Gandaki, Lumbini, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces. Heavy snowfall and rain are likely in a few high mountain and Himalayan areas of these provinces between Oct. 27-29, 2025 (Kartik 10 and 12).
In light of these conditions, NTB sincerely advises:
- All mountaineering and trekking groups to remain alert and prioritize safety in coordination with local authorities and guides.
- Tourists currently on trekking routes to stay in safe shelters until weather conditions improve and to immediately contact local administration or Tourist Police if they face any difficulty.
- Homestay operators, hotels, and resort owners in the affected regions to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests by providing necessary shelter and support at reasonable prices.
- Travel, trekking, and tourism-related associations in Gandaki Province and other concerned bodies to help facilitate coordination and communication for the safety of visitors.
Additionally, Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trekking route remains temporarily restricted until the evening of Oct. 31, 2025, due to adverse weather conditions and safety concerns.
NTB requests all visitors and tourism stakeholders to remain patient, prioritize safety, and follow official updates from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
