Chennai, 23 March 2025
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), in collaboration with 15 Destination Management Companies, successfully participated in the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Chennai 2025, held from 21 to 23 March at Chennai Trade Center. As one of India’s most established tourism fairs since 2000, TTF Chennai provided an excellent platform for Nepal to promote its diverse travel offerings to the South Indian market.
The Nepal Pavilion witnessed a substantial number of visitors, including avid travelers, media personnel, tour operators, business representatives, and students, all expressing keen interest in exploring Nepal as a travel destination. The engaging display of Nepal’s natural beauty, adventure tourism, pilgrimage tourism, and cultural heritage generated numerous queries, reaffirming Nepal’s position as a preferred travel destination among South Indian travelers.
As the National Tourism Organization, NTB represented Nepal alongside 15 travel trade companies, namely: Airwings Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd., Alpine Kailash Trek Pvt. Ltd., Apoorva Tours and Treks Pvt. Ltd., Bonjoy Travels Pvt. Ltd., Heritage Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd., Kathmandu Holiday Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd., Leaf Holidays Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd., Namaste Tourism and Holidays Pvt. Ltd., Nepal Big Mountain Travel Company Pvt. Ltd., Regulus Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd., Samrat Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd., Satyam Tours & Travels Pvt. NTB officials Mr. Shiv Raj Pandeya and Mr. Kabindra Bhatta actively disseminated information on Nepal’s tourism products and attractions, providing fresh updates specifically targeting South Indian visitors.
A notable highlight of the event was the visit of the Honorable Tourism Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Thiru R. Rajendra, who graced the Nepal stall on the inaugural day. His presence underscored the strong tourism ties between Nepal and India, paving the way for deeper collaboration in promoting bilateral tourism exchanges. Additionally, Nepal was honored with the prestigious “Best Stall Decoration Award,” a recognition by the organizers that reinforced Nepal’s strong and impactful presence at TTF Chennai 2025.
Meetings with officials from Andhra Pradesh Tourism, Tamil Nadu Tourism, and Kerala Tourism have opened doors for further collaboration and government-level partnerships to promote mutual tourism growth. The presence of popular local influencers, spiritual leaders, actors, and various government officials at the Nepal Pavilion further added value to the show.
With strong cultural and tourism ties between Nepal and India, such events continue to serve as a bridge for enhancing tourism exchanges. India remains Nepal’s largest inbound tourism source market, with 317,772 Indian tourists arriving via air in 2024, accounting for nearly one-third of Nepal’s total arrivals. Additionally, it is estimated that over 1.5 million Indian visitors travel to Nepal via land borders, demonstrating the tremendous potential for cross-border and regional tourism.
Nepal Tourism Board remains committed to expanding its outreach and welcoming more Indian travelers to experience the country’s breathtaking landscapes, rich heritage, and warm hospitality.
