Patan Featured on Condé Nast Traveller’s “Best Places to Eat in 2026”Monday, December 22nd, 2025

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is pleased to share that Patan (Lalitpur) has been featured in Condé Nast Traveller’s renowned global list of “The Best Places to Eat in 2026,” placing the historic city among the world’s most exciting culinary destinations. The recognition highlights Patan’s distinctive gastronomic identity—deeply rooted in centuries-old Newari food traditions and complemented by a growing contemporary dining and beverage scene—offering visitors an experience where living heritage, culture, and cuisine come together. This milestone follows a wave of positive international media attention for Nepal, with National Geographic recently spotlighting authentic, community-based travel experiences across the country, and BBC Travel featuring Nepal’s southern Terai for its rich wildlife, sacred landscapes, vibrant cultures, and warm tradition of hospitality guided by the belief that “the guest is god.”

Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, said, “Being featured by Condé Nast Traveller, alongside recent recognition in National Geographic and BBC Travel, is a proud moment for Nepal’s tourism sector. Patan’s inclusion reflects how our living heritage, local flavours, and creative culinary communities are gaining global recognition. These international affirmations strengthen Nepal’s positioning beyond its natural landscapes, showcasing our cities and communities as vibrant destinations for authentic, meaningful, and diverse travel experiences.
