Meeting between The first Secretary Ms. Iuliia Androsova, Embassy of The Russian Federation as well as Director-Russian Centre of Science and Culture and NTB CEO Dr. Dhananjay RegmiMonday, September 13th, 2021

The first Secretary Ms. Iuliia Androsova, Embassy of The Russian Federation as well as Director-Russian Centre of Science and Culture met with NTB CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi in Nepal Tourism Board on Monday, 13th September, 2021 with an aim to discuss on the possible future promotional collaboration between Russia and Nepal.

In the meeting, decades long diplomatic relation between Russia and Nepal was discussed where Dr. Regmi said that Nepal is the most desired adventurous destination for the Russian Tourists and the role of Embassy of The Russian Federation is pivotal in increasing the number of Russian Tourists in Nepal. Ms. Androsova said that Nepal is represented as a mysterious country in Russia and they love being in Nepal. Nepal’s multilingual, multicultural and multiethnic aspects fascinate Russians a lot. Keeping this in mind, Ms. Androsova assured NTB to connect with The Federal Agency for Tourism in Russia so that they can discuss on possible collaboration on promotional campaigns. Ms. Androsova even highlighted on the idea of Russians interest in the image of Yeti and suggested NTB to strongly brand it as Nepal’s brand.

Dr. Regmi requested Russian Centre of Science and Culture to incorporate NTB’s participation as Nepal’s representation in the programs organized by them. Similarly, Dr. Regmi even agreed on the facilitation for the ‘Sister City Agreement’ between Bhaktapur and Derbent where both of the cities share similar historical essence. Likewise, Dr. Regmi suggested Ms. Androsova to collaborate with Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NATHM) for Russian language and cuisine training in which NTB can coordinate. Russia contributing to the major source market to Nepal, Dr. Regmi strongly advocated for the Russian language training which can be done jointly by Nepal Tourism Board and Russian Centre of Science and Culture. For this he even stressed on signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

There was even mutual consent regarding knowledge exchange programs and FAM Trips between both the countries for strengthening the tourism relation. Nepal Tourism Board has been taking part regularly in various Fairs and Sales Mission targeting Russian Tourists since its early days. In the midst of crisis also NTB has been communicating with Embassy of The Russian Federation. The meeting ended with a note of mutual cooperation for the promotion of Nepal’s Tourism.
