Status Update on Trekking Areas in NepalWednesday, November 11th, 2020

As per the Government announcement on Sept. 15, trekking and mountaineering activities have resumed from Oct. 17, 2020, amidst precaution and high alert. Mountain tourism protocol was earlier released by the Government to ensure that expedition teams, trekkers, community members and service providers are safe in the mountains.

The Everest region is open with certain protocols like PCR negative report within 72 hours of visit from designated hospitals. Similarly, Kanchenjunga, Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Humla, Manaslu, Helambu and Rubi Valley are open for trekking with PCR negative report within 72 hours of visit. In Langtang hotel/ lodge service is closed and the region is open only for camp trekking. Certain regions of the Annapurna are also closed for trekking. Rural municipalities, lodges, teahouses and homestays also require submission of PCR negative report from trekkers. Therefore, it is advisable that all trekkers carry with them PCR negative report not older than 72 hours on their entry to the region in addition to other permits required for trekking.
