The 1st Lumbini International Meditation Day was organized successfully on the morning of April 5 in front of Mayadevi Temple at the Sacred Garden inside Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) premises.
A short discourse on the techniques of meditation was imparted by Acharya Gopal Pokhrel, followed by 10 minute session of “ana paana meditation”. Then monks and nuns from the Sangha family of the Lumbini Development Trust chanted sacred mantras and sutras for “world peace”. Almost five hundred participants including officials, organizers, delegates, athletes, monks, nuns, students, media and general public, were at the meditation program.

He highlighted the importance of meditation in reaching highest potential of oneself, and appreciated the effort of the organizers for choosing Lumbini in Nepal for the series of peace programs. His Excellency Ambassador of China to Nepal Chen Song said the event was yet another milestone in the long-standing people-to-people relations between Nepal and China, and recognized the potential of Lumbini to promote world peace and harmony.
Member Secretary of LDT Mr. Sanu Raja Shakya welcomed the VIP officials and guests, and said the peace programs would likely put Lumbini in the global map for spiritual tourism.
