Tourism Minister Unveils 100-Day Action PlanMonday, April 16th, 2018

Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Rabindra Adhikari has unveiled a 100-day action plan to address stalled tourism and airport infrastructure projects, speed up reconstruction of heritage structures and review policies hampering tourism growth, on March 30, 2018, amidst a function at Nepal Tourism Board.

Minister Adhikari has promised “good governance, transparency and a culture of accountability”. The Minister also stressed that priorities were on upgrading Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Nijgadh International Airport in Bara, and Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.

Similarly, the Minister also committed to speed up the reconstruction of heritage sites like Rani Pokhari and Hanuman Dhoka. Likewise, the Tourism Ministry has decided to form a think tank to gather suggestions and feedback on a regular basis. It has decided to draft a concept paper on mobilizing tourism attachés in five major tourism source markets for tourism promotion. The Government has decided to digitize and consolidate tourism archives of national importance.

Likewise, the Ministry will be forming a committee to develop tourism satellite accounts to determine the actual contribution of the tourism industry to Nepal’s economy.

The Ministry has also decided to establish a secretariat for Visit Nepal Year 2020 to prepare for the national tourism campaign. In the trekking sector, the ministry has decided to build a Guerrilla Trail and Yarsa Trail that will be at least 10 km long.
