Nepal Tourism Board leads a strong delegation of 12 co-exhibitors to promote Nepal as South Asia’s premier destination

CHENNAI, INDIA — Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) a national tourism organization of Nepal, proudly represented Nepal as a Partner Country at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Chennai 2026. The event was held from March 20–22, 2026, at the prestigious Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Nepal’s presence at this landmark travel trade show underscores the country’s commitment to deepening tourism ties with the South Indian market, one of its fastest-growing inbound source market in the region.

Nepal’s participation at TTF Chennai 2026 featured a strong contingent of 13 exhibitors in total, comprising Nepal Tourism Board and 12 co-exhibitors representing the breadth of Nepal’s travel and hospitality industry. The Nepal pavilion served as a vibrant platform for B2B interactions, product showcases, and networking between Nepali tourism stakeholders and Indian travel trade professionals, tour operators, and travel agents from across Tamil Nadu and the wider South Indian region. 

The opening ceremony of TTF Chennai 2026 took place on 20th March 2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre, highlighting the growing importance of South India as a key travel market. The event featured over 250 exhibitors from 12+ Indian states and five countries, including representatives from tourism boards, travel companies, and hospitality brands. Key officials and representatives from travel and tourism industry including J. Innocent Divya, IAS, Commissioner of Department of Tourism, Tamil Nadu, & Managing Director Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, Dr. B.N. Patil, IAS, Director, Directorate of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra and Mr. D Venkatesa, Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India jointly inaugurated the event.  

Following the inauguration, the distinguished guests paid a special visit to the Nepal Pavilion, where they were warmly received by the Nepal Tourism Board delegation. The VIPs were briefed on Nepal’s diverse tourism offerings and the country’s vision for strengthening bilateral tourism ties with India.

India remains Nepal’s largest and most important source market for inbound tourism, with Indian visitors consistently accounting for the highest share of international tourist arrivals. The South Indian states, particularly Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala, represent a rapidly growing segment, driven by increasing disposable incomes, expanding air connectivity, and a strong cultural and spiritual affinity with Nepal. Nepal Tourism Board’s strategic presence at TTF Chennai is part of its broader initiative to deepen engagement with the Indian market and position Nepal as the preferred short-haul destination for South Indian travellers.

The Nepal Pavilion was honored with the Best Decoration Award at the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) Chennai, recognizing its exceptional display of Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
