Monitoring of Along Gandaki Province Tourism Sites till Korala Border
 

A team of officials with representatives from the Parliamentary Development and Technology Committee, Nepal Tourism Board and the media visited the tourism areas of Gandaki Province following the route from Parbat, Beni, Jomsom, Lo Manthang till the Nepal-China border in Korala. The team was monitoring the roads, trails and the tourism services in the areas before the Visit Nepal 2020.

Nepal Shows Strongest Annual Growth in 2018 Says PATA
 

According to Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in the 5 years between 2014 and 2018, these destinations have seen a collective increase of nearly 24 percent – more than 136 M additional International Visitors’ Arrival (IVA). Destinations with the strongest annual percentage growth rates in 2018 included Nepal, Turkey, Vietnam, Nicaragua, and Korea (ROK).

Tihar – Festival of Lights
Oct. 26–29, 2019
The five-day festival of lights, known as Tihar honors Yama, the God of Death, meanwhile, the worship of Laxmi, the Goddess of Wealth dominates the festivities.

On the first day, Kaag Tihar is the day of the crow, the informant of Yama is worshipped. The second-day Kukur Tihar is for worshipping the dogs as the agents of Yama. On the third day is Gai Tihar and Laxmi  Puja. On this day cow is offered prayers and food in the morning, and Goddess Laxmi is offered elaborate prayers and puja in the evening.  

 

Annapurna 100 Ultra Trail Race
Oct. 26, 2019
The Annapurna 100 is a footrace up in the mountains of Nepal with courses of 100 km and 50 km. The race is in its 13th iteration. This year the course has shifted to Mardi Himal. Starting in Dhampus, athletes race up to Mardi Himal Trek High Camp, with fabulous views of Machapuchare (Fishtail peak) as a backdrop and then back down to Dhampus.

Mha Puja
Oct. 28, 2019
Mha Puja is an annual ritual performed by the Newari people of Nepal to celebrate one’s essence and to cleanse and empower the soul. The day is also celebrated as Nepal Sambat or the Newari New Year.

The celebrations invoke prosperity and longevity for the participant. Mha Puja and Nepal Sambat are also celebrated abroad where Nepali people have settled. 

 

Chhath Parva
Nov. 2, 2019
During Chhat Parva, devotees from Nepal and India throng the ancient city of Janakpur to worship at the famous Janaki Temple and take ritual baths in the rivers and ponds. The three-day festival is observed with worship and fasting to achieve both physical and spiritual purity. The festival is celebrated all over Nepal including Kathmandu.
