NTB Recommends Relief Package For Tourism Industry

 
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has made three major recommendations to the Government of Nepal for the survival of Nepal’s Tourism Industry during and post COVID-19. These major recommendations include: 1) Job retention fund for tourism workforce, 2) Financial support to the tourism enterprises, and 3) Policy intervention to facilitate domestic tourism.

• The meeting of Council of Ministers held on Sunday, May 17, has decided to extend the nationwide lockdown till midnight, June 2. 
• The Covid-19 Prevention and Control High-Level Committee has decided to continue the suspension of domestic and international flights till midnight, June 14.
• Closure of Immigration services is to continue until midnight, June 2.

NTB Presents Tourism Safety, Hygiene Protocol To Ministry

 
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) presented the draft of Tourism Sector HHS (health, hygiene, and sanitation) Protocol in preparation for welcoming tourists post Lockdown period, at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) on May 14, 2020. The Protocol was presented by NTB CEO with NTB senior management in the presence of the Secretary of MoCTCA, Joint Secretaries, senior officials from the Government sector, and private sector tourism association heads.
 

 

Online Interaction On Nepal’s Tourism In The Era Of COVID-19

 
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi interacted with Nepali Professors working in North American universities to discuss Nepal’s Tourism in the Post COVID19 Era on May 8, 2020. Professor Gyan Neupane from Arizona State University, Professor Sanjay Nepal from Canada’s University of Waterloo, Professor Brijesh Thapa from the University of Florida, were online on Zoom to share their views on Nepal’s tourism priorities henceforth with CEO Dr. Regmi.

2564th Buddha Jayanti Celebrated Amid COVID-19

 
Despite the global pandemic and current country Lockdown by the Government, Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with low key programs by the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT). Meditation for world peace by Buddhist Bhikshus was held in the morning followed by lighting of 2,564 lights by 10 Bhikshus in the evening on May 7, 2020.

Everest Day
May 29, 2020

 
Nepal celebrates Everest Day on May 29 every year in memory of the first summit of Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953. The day is celebrated with memorial programs, processions, and special events, in Kathmandu and the Everest region. Everest Day promotes mountain tourism.
