As we welcome 2021 with hope and anticipation we usher in the era of “new normal” with health and safety as the top most priority. We have seen a shift in travelers’ interests towards less crowded destinations that offer meaningful and wholesome experiences, which Nepal is known for.  Recognized among travelers as a wellness, rejuvenating, healing and spiritually uplifting destination, Nepal is optimistic about a quick revival and recovery when traveling resumes. Similarly, through continuous cooperation and collaboration with national and international partners, we are working towards building back better, more resilient and sustainable industry. Tourism Minister Prioritizes Tourism Revival  

Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal was briefed on NTB activities on tourism promotion and development by CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation at Singhadurbar on Dec. 29, 2020. Hon’ble Minister expressed that tourism revival would receive utmost priority to build back the sector post-pandemic. He also stressed on the need for distribution of resources for development of sustainable tourism in all parts of Nepal. 

 

Arrival of Indian Tourists Surge After Air-Bubble 

As per official information, the total tourist arrival for January 2021 is 8,874, among which 4,028 are from India. India is a highly valued market for Nepal with strong ties of culture, geography and strong people to people bond.

Miss Tourism To Work With NTB For Tourism Promotion

NTB welcomed Miss Tourism – Nepal 2020, Ms. Riya Shrestha at a program on Dec. 20, 2020. Ms. Shrestha, a 2019 graduate in environmental science from Kathmandu University, was one of the top contenders in the Miss Nepal 2020 contest organized by Hidden Treasure earlier this year.

“Chali Thakurdwar” Organized For Domestic Tourism Promotion
Domestic tourism campaign in Bardiya, Lumbini Province, “Chali Thakurdwar” a cycle rally promoted by NTB in collaboration with NATTA – Banke Chapter, and Nepalgunj Cycle Club, kicked off on Feb. 5, 2021. The 2-day event is expecting around 200 participants from Nepal, India and other countries.

NTB Tiktok Deshdarshan Campaign Launched For Promotion Of Domestic Tourism
On the occasion of its 22nd Anniversary, NTB with the prime objective of exploring new potential destinations, launched Tiktok Deshdarshan Campaign. The response has been enormous with almost 2.1 M views on the page and more than 200 entries for the campaign. Niyauli Jharna in Gorkha was the winner of the fortnight from Jan 1-15, while Sitala Devi in Syangja was the winner of the fortnight from Jan 16-31.

NTB Initiates Office Establishment In Provinces 

NTB is opening up offices in all provinces to ease the planning and decision-making process at the province level. The establishment of the proposed offices has been finalized and functional operations have already commenced.

Fam Tour To North Annapurna Base Camp 

NTB Regional Office Pokhara in coordination with TAAN Regional Chapter jointly organized a week-long 20-member familiarization trip starting from Nov. 29 towards North Annapurna Base Camp beginning from Narchyang near Tatopani on Beni- Jomsom Road.

NMA-NTB Organize Successful Winter Expedition To Dhampus Peak 

NTB Regional Office Pokhara in coordination with Gandaki Province organized Basic Mountaineering Training and Mountain Promotion with the motto “Road To Revival” for Dhampus Peak (6,012m) which aimed at channeling internal tourism and promote different peaks for mountaineering activities. The winter expedition faced many challenges of harsh winter winds but the team overcame the situation and successfully hosted their mark at the peak.
