Nepal Tourism Board held a program on March 2, 2021, at its premises to welcome and felicitate International Celebrity Chef Mr. Santosh Shah – Finalist of the BBC MasterChef UK: The Professionals, 2020 edition, in recognition and appreciation of his contribution for the promotion of Nepal through showcasing Nepal’s heritage cuisine to the world during the popular culinary show.

Nepal Tourism Board Executive Committee has elected Member Mr. Chandra Rijal as its Vice Chairman on March 2, 2021/ Falgun 18, 2077. Preparation Underway for Participation at ITB, SATTE  & OTM 2021

 

In the recent new development of vaccination around the world amidst the Covid- 19 pandemic, tourism has started to look positive with tourism fairs and event organizers calling for physical participation. The year saw numerous virtual programs to keep the trade abreast and updated on various tourism fairs, travel shows, presentations, meetings, webinars etc. Taking a leap forward in this situation, NTB is all set to  participate solo and virtually in ITB Berlin Now 2021. Similarly, NTB is also set to participate physically at upcoming major fairs in India: South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) in Greater Noida, Delhi from March 24-26, 2021, and Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) from 19 – 21 March 2021 in Mumbai.

Ktm & Patan Heritage Walk 

With the objective of promoting cultural tourism within inner city of Kathmandu and Patan, Nepal Tourism Board, Museum of Nepali Arts and The Hidden Treasure jointly organized Kathmandu and Patan Heritage Walk on Jan. 23 and 30, 2021, respectively. The heritage walk was organized to showcase and promote Kathmandu Valley including Patan’s artistic heritages to establish the valley as a high value destination among cultural tourists.

NTB CEO Shares Promotional Vision with Outlook Travel

Nepal was promoted on Outlook Travel, Issue 4, where CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Dr. Dhananjay Regmi has shared destination insights and prospects of promotion in the wake of COVID 19. As per Dr. Regmi, Nepal will be working closely with different markets through targeted programs and campaigns through innovative approaches in 2021 for prompt recovery and revival.

Unification Trail Promoted in Coordination with Nepal Army

Nepal Tourism Board in coordination with Nepal Army is promoting the Unification Trail from Gorkha to Kathmandu which retraces the steps of Prithvi Narayan Shah during his successful mission to found Nepal. The trail is expected to gain popular among international and domestic tourists interested in the historical and anthropological side of Nepal. Similarly, NTB has also worked with Nepali Army in developing masterplan of Sindhuligadi Area; preparation of Gadhi/Forts profile and development of Unification Trail from Gorkha to Kathmandu. 

Trainings for Tourism Human Resources by NTB

Nepal Tourism Board in coordination with the local partners conducted 5 trainings in different parts of the country for capacity enhancement of tourism human resources in this period. The trainings provided were: Basic Nature Guide Training  in Bardia, in coordination with Suklaphanta National Park, in March 21-24, 2077, for 30 participants; Climbing Guide Refresher Training in Kathmandu for 135 participants on Falgun 8-9, 2077, in collaboration with National Mountain Guide Association. Training to Drivers of Tourist Bus, and entrepreneurs regarding Health, Hygiene, Safety and Communication Behavior at Bardiya and Lumbini from Magh 27 to Falgun 3, 2077, in co-ordination with Tourist Bus Association Nepal; Porter Awareness Program in Naukunda Gaunpalika, Rasuwa, on Falgun 5-7, 2077 in co-ordination with Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP). Similarly, a B2B program was conducted in joint coordination with NATTA Farwest. The B2B program was conducted at Surkhet, Chitwan, Pokhara, Palpa, Bhairahawa and Bardia.

Province Update

FNJ Fam Trip from Nawalpur to Dhorpatan

With an aim to revive tourism, Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province supported a Familiarization trip organized by Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Gandaki Province from January 4-7, 2021 where 19 journalists had visited places from Nawalpur to Dhorpatan and interacted with local stakeholders at Baglung, Tarakhola Rural Municipality and Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. 

Training to Pokhara City Tour Guides

Nepal Tourism Board, Gandaki Province supported training programs on Standard Operating Protocol (SoP) and Digital Social Media Marketing for 31 City Tour Guides of Pokhara on 7-8 Jan. 2021 in Pokhara. The training was completed in association with NATTA, Gandaki Province.

Training & Expedition to Dhampus Peak

With an aim to introduce expedition in Gandaki Province, Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province supported Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Gandaki Province for climbing Dhampus Peak also called Thapa Peak (6012 m.) of Mustang district which commenced from 11-19 January 2021.

 

 Trekking in the Annapurnas

Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province supported a 7 day Research, Exploration and Promotional Trekking Tour organized by TAAN Western Regional Association, Pokhara and supported by Modi Rural Municipality, Kaski from 16-22 January 2021 comprising of 18 participants including trekking operators and media.

 

Thakurdwara Cycle Rally

Domestic tourism campaign in Bardia, Lumbini Province, “Chali Thakurdwar” a cycle rally promoted by NTB in collaboration with NATTA – Banke Chapter, and Nepalgunj Cycle Club, kicked off on Feb. 5, 2021. The 2-day event is expecting around 200 participants with participation from in Nepal, India and other countries. The cycle route started from Nepalgunj and ended the route at Thakurdwara, as the first stop. The return route was a different one where the cyclists rallied their way back via Bansaghadi.
