An interaction program on the importance of the revival of Sustainable Tourism Network for the development of Sustainable Tourism was held at the office of Nepal Tourism Board on Wednesday.
Speaking at the program, Sr. Director at NTB Hikmat Singh Ayer laid emphasis on making the Sustainable Tourism Network (STN) active in the changed context of the tourism industry due to the COVID pandemic.
Director Ayer informed that the membership criteria of the STN will be designed including the new structure for the operation of STN.
Similarly, Founder of Social Tours Raj Gyawali pointed out the role that the NTB can play as a consultant to the federal and provinces g for practicing the sustainable development activities and developing the sustainable tourism.
Similarly, tourism entrepreneur Dr. Bishwa Raj Suwal highlighted the need of scientific management and usage of water resources while conducting the activities related to adventure tourism.
Likewise, tourism entrepreneur Megh Ale emphasized on developing the river tourism corridor and river tourism trails so that the flora and fauna and unique bio-diversity of Nepal is protected and conserved in a sustainable manner.
The meeting also decided to form a core group of STN to discuss and share the issues, best practices adopted in the sector of sustainable tourism.
The program was participated in by some 17 members of the Sustainable Tourism Network (STN).
