Tourism Interaction Session by Nepal Tourism BoardSunday, January 9th, 2022

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) held discussions with organizations and individuals concerned with the tourism sector regarding moving forward together during the time of crisis. In the meantime, NTB has given information about the work done by it during the past year and taken suggestions from the private sector on how to go about the new situation. In the program, private sector organizations and tourism entrepreneurs have suggested making tourism viable by following the health standards.

They have also urged the Government to take a decision that favors the forward movement of the tourism sector in a safe way. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of NTB, said that the NTB has been conducting various programs in the past despite the global pandemic of COVID and limited resources. He further added that the program was organized as the suggestions of the private sector were needed to move forward in a way that is beneficial to all.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Achyut Guragain, President of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents( NATTA), said that there is no alternative but to increase booster vaccine against COVID and make tourism viable by adhering to health standards. Senior member of the tourism fraternity Mr. Bijay Amatya,  CEO of Kora Tours Nepal,  suggested NTB to change the market strategy to suit the current situation of travel during the global pandemic. Similarly, Mr. Dambar Parajuli, President of Expedition Operators Association, said that criteria should be formulated to invite tourists in such a way that there will be no problem post arrival in Nepal.

At the program, Head of Departments of NTB apprised the private sector of the work done by their departments in the recent past. Similarly, National Program Manager of Sustainable Tourism Project (STLRP) made presentation on the project and tourism revival strategy work being done by NTB in coordination with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Nepal). The program was attended by Presidents of Tourism Associations and members of the Tourism Fraternity.

नेपाल पर्यटन बोर्डले कोभिडको नयाँ भेरियन्ट ओमिक्रोनको संक्रमण बढ्दै जाँदा पर्यटन क्षेत्रसँग सरोकार राख्ने संस्था तथा व्यक्तिहरुसँग छलफल गरेको छ । साथै बोर्डले यो बीचमा आफुले गरेका काममहरुबारे जानकारी दिँदै नयाँ परिस्थतीमा कसरी जाने भन्नेबारे निजी क्षेत्रसँग सुझाव लिएको छ । कार्यक्रममा निजी क्षेत्रका संस्था तथा पर्यटन व्यवसायीहरुले स्वास्थ्य मापदण्डहरुको पालना गर्दै पर्यटनलाई चलायमान बनाउनु पर्ने सुझाव दिएका छन् । कोरोना संक्रमण भन्दै हठात लकडाउन गर्ने जस्ता कार्यक्रमले विगतमा पर्यटन धराशायी भएको भन्दै त्यस्ता निर्णय सरकारसँग आग्रह समेत गरेका छन् । उनीहरुले संक्रमण बढ्दै जाँदा सचेतना अपनाउने, तथा खोपलाई प्रभावकाररुी बनाउँदै पर्यटनलाई चलाउनु पर्ने बताउनु भयो ।

कार्यक्रममा पर्यटन बोर्डका कार्यकारी प्रमुख डा.धनन्जय रेग्मीले विगतमा कोभिडको संक्रमण र सीमित स्रोत र साधनकोका बीचमा पनि बोर्डले विभिन्न कार्यक्रमहरु गर्दै आएको जानकारी दिनुभयो । उहाँले फेरि कोभिडको नयाँ संक्रमण बढिरहेको सन्र्दभमा निजी क्षेत्रको सुझाव आवश्यक पर्ने भएकोले कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरिएको बताउनु भयो ।

सो अवसरमा नेपाल एशोसिएसन अफ टुर एण्ड ट्रावल एजेन्टस् नाटाका अध्यक्ष अच्युत गुरागाईले कोभिड विरुद्ध बुस्टर खोप बढाउन र स्वास्थ्य मापदण्डको पालना गर्दै पर्यटनलाई चलायमान बनाउनुको विकल्प नरहेको बताउनु भयो । पर्यटन व्यवसायी विजय अमात्यले कोभिडको अवस्थालाई हेरेर पर्यटन बोर्डले बजार रणनीति परिवर्तन गर्न सुझाव दिनुभयो । यस्तै एक्सपिडिसन अपरेटर एशोसिएसनका अध्यष तथा पर्यटन व्यवसायी डम्बर पराजुलीले पर्यटकलाई बोलाउने तर नेपाल आइसकेपछि समस्या नपर्ने खालले मापदण्ड बनाउनु पर्ने बताउनु भयो । कार्यक्रममा बोर्डका वरिष्ठ निर्देशक नन्दिने लाहे थापाले जनसम्पर्क तथा प्रचार प्रसार, अर्का वरिष्ठ निर्देशक हिक्मत सिंह ऐरले आन्तरिक पर्यटन प्रर्वद्धन तथा योजना, कर्पोरेट निर्देशक सन्तोष पन्तले बोर्डको आय व्यको अवस्था,निर्देशक मणिराज लामिछानेले अनुसन्धान तथा पूर्वाधार विकास एवं निमित्त बजार निर्देशक लक्ष्मण गौतमले बोर्डले यो बीचमा गरेका बजार प्रवद्र्धन बजार तथा जिविकोपार्जनका लागि पर्यटन पुनरुत्थान परियोजना (एसटीएलआरपी)का राष्ट्रिय कार्यक्रम प्रवन्धक ज्ञानेश्वर महतोले यूएनडिपी र पर्यटन बोर्डको सहकार्यमा सञ्चालनमा आएको एसटीएलआरपीका बारेमा आफ्नो प्रस्तुतीकरण दिनु भएको थियो । कार्यक्रममा पर्यटनसंग सम्बन्धित नेपाल एशोसिएसन अफ टुर एण्ड ट्रावल एजेन्टस् (नाटा),टे«किङ एजेन्सिज एशोसिएशन अफ नेपाल (नाटा),प्यासिफिक एसिया ट्रावल एशोसिएसन (पाटा) एक्सपिडिसन अपरेटर एशोसिएसन लगायतका संस्थाका प्रमुख तथा प्रतिनिधी सहभागी रहनु भएको थियो ।
