STLRP releases a Guidebook to JanakpurdhamSaturday, February 24th, 2024

Sustainable Tourism Project for Livelihood Regeneration (STLRP) releases a Guidebook to Janakpurdham on the occasion of Janakpur’s Literary Festival.

A guidebook to Janakpurdham was released on the occasion of the fifth edition of Janakpur Literature Festival held in Janakpur. It was developed by STLRP in coordination with Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City and Greater Janakpur Area Development Council, Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) Madhes Province, Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Madhes Province. The book is expected to help domestic and foreign tourists visiting Janakpur to know about janakpur temple as well as other tourist places around it.

Federal MPs Mr. Manish Jha, Mr. Viraj Bhakta Shrestha, Mr. Ganesh Parajuli, Mayor of Janakpur Sub-Municipality Mr. Manoj Kumar Shah, Indo-Nepal Relations Supervisor Ms. Navita Shrikant, Greater Janakpur Region Development Council Chairman Ms. Shital Shah, and manager of Nepal Tourism Board and National Programme Coordinator of Sustainable Tourism Project for Livelihood Regeneration (STLRP) Ms. Shraddha Shrestha, Brand expert Mr. Ranjit Acharya jointly released the guidebook.

The book gives information about the overall identity, historical and religious significance of Janakpurdham, other religious and touristic areas around Janakpur, as well as Mithila art and food. On the occasion, Project’s National Programme Coordinator Shraddha Shrestha said that Janakpur itself is a religious tourist destination of international standard and the importance of Janakpur is expanding with the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, India in recent times. She informed that the project is preparing to publish books in three more languages: Nepali, Maithili and Hindi respectively.

Mayor of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City Mr. Manoj Kumar Shah said that the book has brought together the overall identity of Janakpur and it will help those who want to understand Janakpur. The project, in collaboration with Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, had earlier completed short-term employment works, waste management and signage installation in Janakpur. As part of the programme, reconstruction of Nocha Pokhari in Janakpur, cleaning of Janakpur temple complex, airport and other places were also carried out.
