ITE Hong Kong 2024 concludes setting new records in number of exhibitors, visitors adding new trade events towards forwarding to full recoveryFriday, June 21st, 2024

The 38th International Trade Expo (ITE) and the 19th MICE Travel Expo with a theme “Forward to full recovery” which began on June the 13th successfully concluded on Tuesday, 16th June, 2024.

In a message issued by Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administration Region John K C Lee shared that around 34 million visitors from around the world visited Hong Kong in 2023 and expressed hope that the global tourism industry will gradually recover in the years to come.

 

Chief Executive Lee opined that Asia’s east and northeast regions hold immense potential and presents a wealth of new and emerging trends from sustainable tourism and night markets to ice and snow tourism thus needs to formulate the marketing strategies aggressively targeting those markets. 

Similarly, Managing Director of International Travel Expo (ITE) AND TKS Exhibition Services Ltd K S Tong informed that there are over 520 exhibitors from around 60 countries which took participation in ITE this year 2024. 

Managing Director Tong further stated that this year ITE highlighted popular and crucial themes such as sustainable tourism, ice and snow tourism, new destinations and night markets and displays of winners of inter-school study tour competitions. 

During the opening ceremony, Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Tourism Commission · Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government Joanne Chu gave a key note speech and conducted the VIP tour. 

Likewise, another VIP tour was held for Under Secretary for Culture, Sport and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government JP Raistlin Lau. 

The Under Secretary also paid a visit to Nepal booth and took briefings from the Consul at Nepal Consulate office for Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR Satish Gurung about the diverse products, destinations and unique culture, traditions, flora and fauna, languages, food and people and invited him to visit Nepal as his next holiday destination.    

Around 17 Consul Generals from various consulate offices made their gracious presence at the exhibition and took participation in the VIP Group Photo along with other honorable guests. 

 

Some 400 guests including tourism officials, diplomatic corps, industry leaders, media, exhibitors, buyers, hosted delegates and trade visitors attended the fair.

A total of seven participants representing Nepal’s travel and trade under the leadership of Nepal Tourism Board attended the fair. 

Those travel and trade representatives who participated in the event are Nepal Airlines Corporation, Himalayan 360, Hotel Everest International Limited, Nepal Big Mountain Travel Company Pvt. Ltd, Adventure Gorkhaland Treks and Expedition Private Limited, Fishtail Tours and Travel Pvt. Ltd., Kora Tours.

The ITE has been held each year in Hongkong since 2021 and this year there were around 18 percent more buyers and nearly 12 percent, more public visitors and over 500 exhibitors participated in the fair and the number surpassed the post- pandemic records. 

As informed by the ITE organizers, this year around 20 more new countries joined the exhibition which surpassed the pre-pandemic records. 

Besides, over 80 side events were organized on various themes coinciding the concluding day. The exhibitors representing trade and tourism industries from around the world attended the side events and expressed their commitment to extend multi-lateral collaboration, support and partnership for fostering the tourism growth and development by adopting sustainable and accountable measures and practices.
