Israeli Ambassador Calls on NTB CEO to Strengthen Bilateral Tourism CooperationFriday, February 14th, 2025

KATHMANDU, February 14: His Excellency Shmulik Arie Bass, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), to discuss avenues for enhancing tourism collaboration between the two nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Bass emphasized the importance of resuming Nepal’s participation in the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) in Tel Aviv, Israel. He highlighted that the number of Israeli visitors to Nepal surpassed 8,000 in 2024, underscoring the potential for increased tourism exchange.

CEO Joshi reaffirmed NTB’s commitment to prioritizing bilateral tourism engagements and strengthening tourism ties with Israel. “Nepal has always been a favored destination for Israeli travelers, and we are keen to enhance our tourism exchanges through proactive engagement in events like IMTM. NTB is committed to fostering deeper collaboration to promote Nepal as a premier travel destination,” he remarked.

Nepal and Israel established diplomatic relations on June 1, 1960, making Nepal the first South Asian country to forge official ties with Israel. Israel opened its embassy in Kathmandu in March 1961, and the two nations have since maintained a strong and enduring friendship, marked by high-level visits and extensive cooperation across various sectors.
