East Nepal Eyes Potential of Health TourismThursday, February 27th, 2025
Birtamode, February 27 – Under the mandate of its annual budget and operational plan, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) continues to promote diverse sectors within the country’s tourism industry. One such initiative is the promotion of health and wellness tourism in eastern Nepal, particularly the growing medical and wellness services in Jhapa.
Following the success of the inaugural Health Tourism Promotion event held in June 2023, NTB is now preparing for the second edition in 2025. In this context, a multi-stakeholder interaction program was organized today in Birtamode, bringing together representatives from the tourism fraternity and health service providers.
With Birtamode Municipality as a key partner, the initiative seeks to highlight the potential of health and wellness tourism at both the domestic and regional international levels. Given the steady influx of medical tourists from cross-border cities in adjoining Indian states, this initiative aims to position eastern Nepal as a preferred destination for quality healthcare and wellness services.
The discussions emphasized the need for infrastructure development, policy facilitation, and strategic marketing to enhance the region’s appeal to health-conscious travelers. NTB remains committed to fostering collaborations that will drive the growth of health tourism, contributing to the broader vision of diversifying Nepal’s tourism offerings.
