Nepal Showcases Tourism and Trade Products in MyanmarSunday, March 23rd, 2025
Nepal proudly showcased its tourism products, IT solutions and services, and other commodities at the Nepal-Myanmar Trade and Tourism Expo 2025 held from March 21-22 at Lotte Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar to mark the 65th Diplomatic Relation between the two nations. The Expo jointly organized by Nepal Embassy in Myanmar and Nepal Tourism Board had 30 and 16 companies from both Myanmar and Nepal.
The key highlights from Nepal side was to promote Buddhist tourism, especially promoting travel from Myanmar to Nepal to the newly built Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa, with an aim to promote spiritual and cultural tourism. At the same time, to introduce IT sector in banking and financial technology with its immense potential in Myanmar which still remains untapped.
The program was jointly inaugurated by Union Minister U Tun Ohn, HE Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar Harishchandra Ghimire, President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Shiv Agrawal and President of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry, U Aye Win. The event also saw Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, officials, business leaders from both the countries, Nepali diaspora and tourism fraternity of Myanmar.
A live food station of Nepalese food like momo, selroti, aluko achar and Nepali tea on the second day of the event organized by Nepal Embassy was well received by visitors and participants at the show. The Ambassadors and Head of Missions in Myanmar from different Embassies also attended the event and relished the Nepalese cuisine. Later in the evening, a joint meeting held by Nepal Tourism Board and Myanmar Tourism Federation was organized for Nepalese Embassy, Nepali tourism participants and Myanmar tourism fraternity. The interactive dinner and networking session between both the counterparts was fruitful to promote tourism in both the countries.
