Kathmandu, April 23, 2025 – Nepal Tourism Board is delighted to highlight the recent visit of world-renowned Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos to Nepal, marking a significant moment for the nation’s tourism sector. Carlos, a 2002 FIFA World Cup winner, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at Singha Durbar, where the Prime Minister presented him with a traditional Dhaka topi, symbolizing Nepal’s rich cultural heritage.
Carlos is in Nepal to attend the ongoing Nepal Super League (NSL) 2025, reflecting the country’s growing prominence in the international sports arena. His presence underscores Nepal’s potential as a destination for sports tourism and its capacity to host global sporting events.
Prime Minister Oli emphasized the government’s commitment to developing the sports sector and recognized the positive impact of Carlos’ visit on Nepali football. He noted that such high-profile visits inspire local athletes and contribute to the nation’s sports development.
Nepal Tourism Board believes that hosting international sports figures like Roberto Carlos not only elevates Nepal’s global profile but also showcases the country’s hospitality and cultural richness.
