Nepal Tourism Board Elevates Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025 with Cultural and Experiential HighlightsTuesday, May 20th, 2025

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) proudly collaborated in the successful organization of Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025, a high-level global dialogue platform focused on climate change, mountain resilience, and sustainable development. NTB’s unique contributions to the event brought cultural richness, experiential engagement, and authentic Nepali hospitality to the forefront, receiving high appreciation from international delegates.

As part of its commitment to promoting Nepal’s cultural diplomacy and environmental advocacy, NTB introduced a series of signature experiences throughout the three-day program:

Special Souvenirs and Tea Counters

NTB curated special souvenirs for international delegates, featuring premium teas from Illam’s renowned tea gardens. For the first time, live tea counters were installed at the event venue, offering guests the opportunity to taste and learn about Nepali teas, a move that drew enthusiastic responses from participants.

Raithane Dinner Showcasing Culinary Diversity

In collaboration with the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), NTB organized a Raithane Dinner on 17 May 2025, showcasing traditional cuisines from all seven provinces of Nepal. The dinner highlighted the culinary heritage of Nepal and featured a special tasting session of local beverages, including Aila and Thon, which emerged as a cultural highlight of the evening.

Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable Participation

NTB CEO, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, was a featured speaker in the Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable Discussion under the theme “Global and Regional Partnership.” The session was chaired by Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Advisor to the Prime Minister, addressed key topics such as:

  • Recognition and reward for ecosystem services
  • Climate-induced disaster resilience
  • Innovative climate and carbon financing

Mr. Joshi emphasized the tourism sector’s potential to drive sustainable development and foster international cooperation in climate action.

Mountain Flight for Climate Awareness and Product Visit

NTB also coordinated a special mountain flight for VIP delegates, led by Hon’ble Minister for Forests and Environment, Mr. Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri. The flight offered delegates a panoramic view of the Himalayas and a sobering visual of the impacts of climate change on Nepal’s mountain ecosystems.

NTB’s Continued Commitment

Speaking about NTB’s involvement, CEO Mr. Joshi remarked:

“Sagarmatha Sambaad exemplifies Nepal’s role in convening meaningful global dialogue. Through cultural expression and experiential storytelling, NTB is proud to support Nepal’s climate and diplomacy leadership.”
