Nepal Unveils Wellness Tourism Vision, Announces Nepal Wellness Year 2027Wednesday, April 15th, 2026

Nepal Tourism Board, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, marked International Wellness Day 2026 with a special ceremony at Sainik Manch, Tundikhel, Kathmandu. The event brought together government officials, tourism stakeholders, wellness practitioners, and members of the public to celebrate Nepal’s growing leadership in global wellness tourism. The program featured inaugural mantra chanting, guided yoga and meditation sessions, and the official launch of the Wellness Tourism Strategy, along with the announcement of Nepal Wellness Year 2027, reinforcing the country’s commitment to positioning itself as a premier global wellness destination.

Addressing the gathering, Honorable Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Paudel emphasized that Nepal’s wellness offerings extend beyond tourism, encouraging visitors to engage in deeper self-discovery through the country’s spiritual and cultural heritage, stating, “Do not just visit Nepal; come and discover yourself.” Chief Guest, Right Honorable Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, highlighted the importance of integrating wellness into daily life and national development, noting, “Wellness is not a luxury but a necessity for a healthy, prosperous, and balanced society.” Reflecting the experience on the ground, a participating yoga practitioner remarked, “Practicing yoga in an open and shared public space reminds us that true wellness emerges from harmony between nature, the body, and the mind.”

The celebration aligns with Nepal’s global initiative to observe April 15 as International Wellness Day and reflects a broader national effort to promote wellness practices across communities. As Nepal advances its wellness tourism agenda, the country continues to offer transformative lifetime experiences rooted in nature, spirituality, and holistic wellbeing, inviting visitors not only to explore its landscapes but also to reconnect with themselves.Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board and Member Secretary of the International Wellness Day 2026 Main Organizing Committee., facilitated the program.
